Torx Flat Head Screws for Wood
With more points of contact than Phillips-, slotted-, and square-drive screws, you can firmly press these Torx-drive screws into wood without stripping them or damaging the recess—their threads create a tight hold. All are beveled under the head for use in countersunk holes. Made of zinc-plated steel, they resist rusting in wet environments. To prevent splitting, drill a pilot hole slightly smaller than the screw. Length is measured from the top of the head.

Flanged Rounded Head Screws for Wood
With a low-profile rounded head that’s flanged to sit flush for a finished appearance, these screws press threads into wood on cabinets, trim, molding, and light duty framing. Because they’re flanged, they distribute pressure across a wide surface, creating a tight hold and eliminating the need for a washer. The Torx drive has more points of contact than Phillips, slotted, and square drives, so you can apply extra force without worrying about slipping or stripping. These screws have a zinc plating to resist corrosion in wet environments. To prevent splitting, drill a pilot hole slightly smaller than the screw. Length is measured from under the flange.

Distortion-Free Screws for Plastic-Wood Composites
Threads change direction to cut into composites and push material back into the hole to prevent distorting the surface around the hole. Also known as trim-head deck screws, these have a small flat head and slender shank to reduce the risk of splitting. They have a Type 17 auger point to penetrate softwood and plastic-wood composite decking material. A Torx drive allows you to apply extra force with less slippage or damage to the recess. Made from 18-8 stainless steel, they have good chemical resistance and are a good choice for ACQ-treated (arsenic-free) lumber. They may be mildly magnetic. Length is measured from the top of the head.
