Building Wire
- Use for buildings
- Stranded Wire: Flexible
Solid Wire: Bend and Stay - Temperature Range:
Wire with Nylon Outer Insulation: -10° to 190° F
Wire with Polyethylene Outer Insulation: -40° to 190° F
Install this copper wire in conduit and cable trays in commercial and industrial buildings. It's also known as branch circuit wire. The outer jacket is designed to be installed without applying pulling lubricant.
Stranded wire is flexible, so it’s pliable enough to be pulled around corners. Wire with a nylon outer insulation resists oil and water. Wire with a polyethylene outer insulation resists abrasion and chemicals. It’s more flexible than nylon insulated wire.
XHHW-2 wire is for dry and wet locations where wire may be exposed to dripping or splashing liquid. THHN wire can be used in dry or damp locations where wire is exposed to condensation or moisture, such as a basement. THWN and THWN-2 wire can be used in both wet and dry environments.
Flame rated VW-1 wire meets requirements for preventing the spread of flames based on a timed test with vertically suspended material.

High-Voltage Continuous-Flex Wire
- Use for solar equipment, automation, continuous motion
- Continuous Flex
- Temperature Range: -85° to 325° F
- Insulation: Silicone Rubber
A thick insulation protects this wire from high voltages while maintaining flexibility. The insulation also resists moisture. Often used in automated applications such as robotics, it withstands continuous motion without degrading data or signal transmission. It meets UL 94 V-0 for flame retardance. If this wire is exposed to flames, it minimizes how much smoke and halogen it releases.

Chemical-Resistant Continuous-Flex Wire
- Use for automation, continuous motion
- Continuous Flex
- Temperature Range: -30° to 190° F
- Insulation: TPE Rubber
Insulated with TPE, this wire won’t break down from oil, coolant, or chemicals, and it carries a strong signal even when repeatedly bent. This makes it great for greasy equipment on automated lines, such as lubricated cable carriers. Its insulation also stands up to moisture and sunlight, so you can use this wire outdoors. This wire is flame rated FT1, which means it meets requirements for preventing the spread of fire.
Unshielded wire works in most applications. You can twist it 90° while pulling and bending it at the same time.
Choose shielded wire if you need protection against signal interference from nearby equipment, such as variable frequency drives or small motors. Spiral-shielded wire balances good signal interference and flexibility. It's the most flexible wire we offer, so it will bend, flex, and twist 180° without stretching or snapping.

Outdoor Wire
The EPDM insulation on this wire won’t become brittle or crack from sunlight, humidity, rain, temperature changes, abrasion from dirt and debris, and other rough outdoor conditions. It meets Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) standards for material quality.
SC wire is a good choice for temporary setups powering outdoor lights, equipment, generators, and power distribution boxes, since its thick insulation makes it easy to move and reuse. Commonly found at outdoor events, it’s also known as stage cable.
DLO wire carries higher voltages than SC wire, making it the better choice for heavy duty applications. Use it to run power to motors, cranes, and other equipment in shipyards, mines, and oil- and gas-drilling rigs. Also known as diesel locomotive cable, this wire was originally designed to wire trains. An inner layer of chlorinated polyethylene plastic (CPE) gives it increased resistance to chemicals, heat, and flames. It’s also rated RHW-2, so it can be used underground and in wet locations.
All are flame rated, so they meets requirements for preventing the spread of flames based on a timed test. FT4 wire is mounted to a vertical tray during testing. FT5 wire is suspended horizontally during testing.

Aluminum Building Wire
- Use for buildings
- Flexible
- Temperature Range: -40° to 190° F
Mend or extend aluminum wire often found in older buildings. This wire isn’t recommended for new wiring, since it’s more likely to overheat than copper when conducting electricity. However, it’s safer to maintain existing aluminum wire with aluminum rather than mixing materials. Building wire is also known as branch circuit wire.
This wire has an outer layer of nylon insulation that won't degrade from oil and water. It’s designed to be pulled through conduit without pulling lubricants. THHN and THWN-2 designated, this wire can be used in damp places.
