    Oversized Washers

These washers have exaggerated diameters to cover large holes and to compensate for uneven mounting surfaces. They are also thicker than general purpose washers, so they bridge wide gaps when used as spacers.

Black Super-Corrosion-Resistant-Coated Steel—Combines a finished appearance with the rust resistance of 316 stainless steel. The coating has been tested to extreme standards, including 1,000 hours of salt spray resistance, to hold up in wet and outdoor environments. Also known as black luster.

    Shims

When you don’t know the exact shim thickness you’ll need, keep multiple slotted shim thicknesses on hand so you always have the right one. Slip these shims around existing mounting fasteners to precisely align and level components such as pumps, compressors, and gearboxes with motors, all without disassembling them. They’re also good for leveling machines on uneven surfaces. To reduce sizing errors, these shims are either labeled with their thickness so there's no need to measure or color coded by thickness to quickly spot the right size.
You can stack multiple shims to achieve your exact thickness, but stacking more than four may cause them to shift. Remember, fewer shims are better, so a couple of thicker shims are more stable than a bunch of thin shims.
Painted Aluminum—These shims are an alternative to stainless steel for rust resistance but aren't as hard so they may not retain their shape as well. One-third the weight of steel, they’re commonly used in robotics and automation.
Plastic—Softer than metal, these shims won't mar delicate surfaces and they will never rust.
