Water-Quality Combination Test Kits

Test for contaminants before installing water-treatment equipment such as boilers and filters. You can also check your pipes and equipment for improper chemical levels that can cause corrosion and scale buildup, shortening their life.
367-test kits include tests for six common water-quality parameters in boiler systems and cooling towers.
340-test kits include tests for monitoring municipal water, which is often treated with chlorine.
290-test kits include tests that help you monitor well water, which often contains sulfur compounds.

Water-Quality Test Kits

All the chemicals and labware you need for on-site sampling and water-quality testing.
Digital kits offer simpler and more accurate testing than analog kits. While analog kits require you to visually match color against a chart, these kits electronically measure color for you, even in dim lighting. The digital screen shows you a precise measurement.

Lubricant Analysis Kits

Send in samples of your gear box oil or hydraulic oil and get back a full report on the condition of both your lubricant and equipment. The report includes results for wear metals (including ferrography), additive concentrations, particulate and water contamination, and viscosity. Sample results will be emailed to you within three to five business days. If the lab discovers critical conditions, they will call you to provide guidance on how to address the problem. Kit includes six bottles with labels, so you can test multiple samples.

Surface Passivation Test Kits

Test stainless steel to see if it needs to be passivated or was properly passivated. These tests detect the presence of iron from fabrication processes, which can limit stainless steel's inherent ability to resist corrosion. Often used in aerospace, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries, they meet ASTM, aerospace, and military passivation standards.
To perform a test, squeeze the dropper to apply the solution to the surface of a part. Keep the surface wet for six minutes before rinsing and drying it off. Do not scrub the solution off. If iron is detected, the surface will appear copper in color. If no copper coloring appears, the surface is clear of contaminants and is properly passivated. These bottles include enough solution to perform hundreds of spot tests.
This test is often used on all 200 and 300 series stainless steels and some 400 series stainless steel alloys. However, it’s not recommended to use this solution on 400 series stainless steel with less than 16% chromium. These stainless steel alloys will typically cause a false failure of the test.

Battery-Powered Magnetic Particle Flaw-Detection Kits

Check for defects slightly beneath the surface of ferrous materials that you wouldn’t otherwise see. The yoke in these kits is powered by a battery, so it uses direct current to create a strong magnetic field that reaches just below the surface of your part. When you apply the powder, the powder will move towards any flaws, helping you identify tears, cracks, and other imperfections.
Ideal for fieldwork, these kits come with everything you need for on-the-go inspections. The yoke lasts up to eight hours on a single battery charge. Built for rugged environments, it has a sealed design that stands up to chemicals and other harsh conditions.

Plug-In Magnetic Particle Flaw-Detection Kits

Find faulty seams, welding defects, and other surface-level flaws in ferrous materials. These kits come with everything you need to start inspecting parts. Apply the powder to the surface you want to inspect. Then plug in the yoke and it creates a magnetic field that draws the powder to the imperfection, making it easy to spot. Built for rugged environments, the yoke has a sealed design that stands up to chemicals and other harsh conditions. It’s also half the weight of a standard yoke and fits comfortably in your hand, so there’s less fatigue if you use it for extended periods of time.
For Use On | Includes | Plug Type | Voltage | Specifications Met | Each | |
Cast Iron, Stainless Steel, Steel | One 1-lb. Bottle of Gray Powder, One 1-lb. Bottle of Red Powder | Three Prong | 120V AC | ASTM E1444, MIL-STD-2132, MIL-STD-271 | 000000 | 0000000 |
Plug-In Yokes for Magnetic-Particle Flaw Detection

Find welding defects and other flaws in magnetic materials. These yokes create a magnetic field that draws magnetic powder (not included) to imperfections, making them easy to spot. All operate on AC power, which creates a small magnetic field ideal for detecting flaws along the surface of materials. Powered by standard electrical outlets, these yokes have a reliable and consistent power source.
6-lb. yokes are lightweight and fit comfortably in your hand to reduce fatigue over extended use. Attach an LED light to your yoke to brightly illuminate inspection areas. They’re powered by the yoke’s magnetic field, so they don’t require batteries.
Yokes with an AC/DC switch can also operate on DC power. DC power generates a deeper magnetic field than AC power to find defects underneath surfaces, such as internal tears and cracks.
Calibrate your yoke before each use with a test weight to ensure accurate test results.

Calibration Kit for Metal-Detectable Plastics

Made with metal additives, these balls test the sensitivity of food-processing metal detectors. They’re often used to calibrate metal detectors to find metal-detectable plastic tools that have fallen into a batch. To calibrate your metal detector, run different balls through the line—the smaller the ball, the more sensitive the detector must be to recognize it. Since they’re spheres, their orientation won’t affect a metal detector’s ability to register them. These balls help you comply with Hazard and Critical Control Point (HACCP) programs for food safety. They’re FDA compliant for direct contact with food. Balls are autoclavable, so you can sanitize them with steam.

Remote Test Stations for Smoke Detectors for HVAC Systems

Check that your HVAC smoke detector is working properly. Wire these test stations to your smoke detector controller to test difficult to access smoke detectors from a convenient location. Indicator lights show if your smoke detector is powered on, if it senses smoke, and if its sensors are too dirty to detect smoke and need cleaning. These test stations activate with the turn of a key so you don’t turn them on by accident.

Respirator Fit Testers
Check your respirator for a tight seal—these testers help you comply with OSHA guidelines for respiratory protection. Performed at least once a year, fit tests make sure that a respirator is snug against your face and doesn’t leak. These testers use a bitter solution to test whether you can taste or smell it while wearing the respirator. They’re recommended for fit testing half-face respirators being worn near mild hazards. Keep wearing a respirator with the same manufacturer model and size once you pass a fit test, or you’ll need to test again.

Hearing Protection Fit Testing Systems

In a matter of minutes, confirm your earplugs deliver the right level of hearing protection. These kits help you meet OSHA standards for protection from excessive noise. Conduct the test onsite—everything you need, including a tablet with software already installed, is included. To use this kit, you will undergo a hearing test with and without your earplugs to determine the lowest volume you can hear. The system then calculates the difference between the scores and produces a personal attenuation rating (PAR).
Once the test is complete, you’ll receive a full report to help you choose the best earplugs. The results automatically upload to cloud storage and can be accessed on multiple devices.

Pressure Recording Film

Create an instant, permanent image of pressure distribution and magnitude. These sheets of film help you identify uneven pressure that can lead to leaks and stress fractures. Use them between any two surfaces that touch each other, such as bolted joints, welding fixtures, and jigs. Tiny capsules within the film burst at specific pressure levels, causing the film to change color. This produces an instant map of pressure variation, similar to a heat map. For a custom size, cut the film with scissors.

0.008" thick film includes two 0.004" thick sheets that must be used together.
Pressure variance analysis kits include a sheet of pressure film and instructions on how to send your film to the manufacturer for analysis. The manufacturer runs the analysis through specialized software. This software gives you more accurate results than the color correlation manual. Within a few days of sending your sample in, you’ll receive an email with a full report on the force distribution and magnitude.
Use a color correlation manual (sold separately) with pressure film to determine the magnitude of the pressure measurements. The manual includes best practices and color correlation charts to help you match the colors on your film readout to the correct values.
A color sample pack includes a color correlation manual and one 3" × 4" piece of film in each of these pressure ranges: 28-85, 70-350, 350-1,400, 1,400-7,100, and 7,100-18,500 psi.
