Cam Panel-Mount Lever Switches

Thanks to their ability to handle higher current than switches with contact blocks, these switches are often found in applications from large motors to warehouse lighting systems. The cam pushes contacts more tightly together than contact blocks, allowing more electricity to flow through. However, they aren’t made to be rewired like switches with contact blocks are. These switches require you to grip and twist a lever to turn circuits on or off, so they won’t accidentally actuate if you bump into them. Mount them in a standard panel cutout diameter.
Choose a switch based on the complexity of your application. Changeover switches have three positions. They work well if you need to toggle between a primary power source and a backup generator. Legend plates (sold separately) give you a way to change your switch’s message.

Motor Switches

Use these switches to turn motors on and off, or to control lighting and electric heat circuits. They do not provide overload protection.
Toggle switches work like a traditional light switch—just flip the toggle up or down. Even if you’re wearing thick gloves, they’re easy to actuate.
Finger guards (sold separately) cover the screw terminals on your switch, blocking you from touching a live wire. If you need to move the terminal block, they prevent accidental shock.

Panel-Mount Compact Disconnect Switches

Install these switches in a panel cutout. Small enough to fit in tight spaces, they handle comparable electrical loads to standard sized switches. They cut power and keep it isolated to prevent equipment from starting up during inspection and maintenance. All have a lockout so you can secure them in the off position with a padlock (not included). They’re rated IP65 for protection from washdowns.

Enclosed Compact Disconnect Switches

Small yet mighty, these switches are about as tall and wide as an index card yet durable enough to mount directly to a wall. Their polycarbonate housing protects the switch and resists denting, chipping, and cracking. Rated IP65, the housing also seals out water even in frequently washed down areas. Don’t be fooled by their size—these switches can handle electrical loads comparable to a standard sized switch.

Enclosure Disconnect Switches
Install these switches inside an enclosure to prevent it from opening when power is on—turn the switch to disconnect power and release the door. Cut the shaft to fit the enclosure. Use a padlock (not included) to lock switches in the off position. Mount to DIN rail inside an enclosure; mounting depth is the distance from the panel door to the DIN rail. All meet at least one safety standard.
Add auxiliary contact blocks to send a signal or connect to another device, such as an alarm or indicating light.
Use optional sealing gaskets in washdown environments; they create an IP65 rated seal around the actuator.
Use additional power poles to control more than three circuits. Add neutral poles to open and close the neutral leg of a three-phase system.
Add junction blocks to connect a ground wire.
Terminal covers prevent contact with live terminals.

Manual Override Enclosure Disconnect Switches
Keep power running while you access your enclosure. Unlike standard enclosure disconnect switches, which shut off power as you open your enclosure, these have an override function. Engaging the override allows you to take voltage reading, troubleshoot an error code, or fine tune the speed of your line. When the override is off, these work like a standard disconnect switch—a safety interlock prevents your enclosure from opening when power is on. The interlock also prevents the switch from turning on when the door is already open. Cut the shaft to fit your enclosure. All have a lockout so you can secure them in the off position with a padlock (not included).
Add auxiliary contact blocks to send a signal or connect to another device, such as an alarm or indicating light.
Use additional power poles to control more than three circuits. Add neutral poles to open and close the neutral leg of a three-phase system.
Add junction blocks to connect a ground wire.
Terminal covers prevent contact with live terminals.

For use with equipment that cycles on and off, these relays meet UL 508 for air conditioning and heating. Connections are accessible from the front, so you can mount relays side-by-side. Also known as definite-purpose contactors.
Enclosures (sold separately) are NEMA 1 rated to protect contacts from corrosion.
Also Available: Auxiliary contacts for 3.8"-7.2" Ht. relays. They allow you to add a signaling device or control another relay. Please select 6564K99, then select the McMaster-Carr part number of your relay and whether you want to switch one circuit on (1 Normally Open) or off (1 Normally Closed).

Stud-Terminal Relays

These relays are suitable for DC-powered equipment such as forklifts, floor scrubbers, and trucks. They are rated for continuous operation for cycles that run longer than 30 seconds.
4- and 6-terminal relays allow different input and switching voltages.

High-Starting-Current Vehicle Relays

Relay Socket and
Surface Mounting

Crimp-On
Terminals
Also known as automotive relays, these relays can handle high starting (inrush) currents.
Relays for surface mounting have a tab for added security in high-vibration applications.

Touch-Safe DIN-Rail Mount Infrequent-Cycle Relays
Operate equipment that cycles on and off from your control cabinet. Often called definite-purpose contactors, these relays meet UL 508 for use with air conditioning and heating. Mount them directly to 35 mm DIN rail (also known as DIN 3 rail) for fast installation. They have recessed terminals that prevent fingers and other objects from touching live circuits. You can wire the control circuit on either side of the relay, which helps you use less wire.
Auxiliary contacts (sold separately) allow you to add a signaling device or control another relay.
Use replacement coils to swap out a broken coil or change the input voltage of a relay. The full load current of the relay must match the full load current range of the coil.
