Tight-Tolerance Hardened Multipurpose 4140 Alloy Steel Sheets and Bars
Also known as flat stock, the thickness on these sheets and bars is held to a tight tolerance. They are hardened for increased abrasion and impact resistance. Also known as chrome-moly steel, this versatile 4140 alloy steel is used for many parts, such as gears, axles, shafts, collets, and die holders. It resists fracturing from repeated stress.

Hardened Multipurpose 4140 Alloy Steel Hex Bars

A hardened surface makes these hex bars more impact and abrasion resistant than untreated bars. They’re also stress relieved to reduce the chance of warping during machining. These hex bars are often used to create gears, shafts, and other hard-working parts. They resist fracturing from repeated stress. All have been manufactured to meet ASTM standards for quality and performance. Also known as chrome-moly steel.
Note: Hex bars may be made from either 4140 or 4142 alloy steel. They are interchangeable in most applications.
