About Character Height
When you look at the face of a stamp, you'll notice the character is raised. The distance between the upper and lower raised ridges is known as the character height. This height is used to measure stamp size. If a stamp does not have a size marking on the shank, measure the character height to order the correct size.
The actual impression a stamp makes is larger than its character height and varies depending upon how hard you strike the stamp, the hardness of the material, and wear.
Build-Your-Own Metal Type Stamps
Choose only the characters you need to make your message from 0-9, A-Z, period, forward slash (/), dash, and blank spaces. To create your message, place characters in the holder and then tighten with the included hex key. The spring pin locks them in place for proper alignment. For holder to work properly, you must fill unused spaces with blanks. These stamps make marks on surfaces with a Rockwell hardness up to C28, including leather, wood, and most metals.
Characters (sold separately) come individually or as sets. If ordering replacement or additional characters, make sure the character height and notch-to-end length match that of characters you already have.
Build-Your-Own Pocket-Size Metal Type Stamps
Choose only the characters you need from 0-9, A-Z, and blank spaces. To create your message, place characters in the holder and a retaining pin keeps them firmly in place. For holder to work properly, you must fill unused spaces with blanks (when using 5/32" high characters, unused spaces must be filled with 1/8" blanks). These stamps make marks on materials with a Rockwell hardness up to C35, including leather, wood, and most metals.
Characters (sold separately) come individually or as sets. If ordering replacement or additional characters, make sure the character height and notch-to-end length match that of characters you already have.

Holders for Metal Stamps

Punch and Chisel Holders

Protect your hands from accidental hammer strikes by gripping punches and chisels with these holders.
Style A slides over your punch or chisel. Use with tools at least 6” long.
Styles B and C tighten when the handle is turned. Style C has a spring-loaded clamp and foam grip to reduce shock.
Styles D and E have a knob at the bottom of the handle for tightening. Style E also has a brass rivet to resist sparking.
