M12 Plug
With a narrow, flat body, these switches fit in tight spaces. They detect the presence or absence of an object moving at high speeds with a light beam. Adjust the intensity of the light beam to better detect shiny or translucent objects. All are rated NEMA 4X, 13, and IP67 for protection from corrosion, oil/coolant spraying, washdowns, and temporary submersion.
Direct sensing switches detect objects when light reflects back from the object. The transmitter and receiver are in the same housing, so they fit in confined spaces.
Receiver switches detect objects when an object breaks the light beam between the transmitter and receiver (both included). They have a longer sensing distance than direct-sensing and reflector switches.
Reflector switches detect an object when it passes between the switch and the reflector, interrupting the beam. They have a longer sensing distance than direct-sensing switches.
Switches with DC input voltage automatically produce either PNP or NPN signal output, based on the device they are connected to.
Switches with a plug connect to cables with a socket (sold separately), allowing you to quickly connect and disconnect the switch.

Time-Delay Fiber-Optic Photoelectric Switches
Set these switches to delay activation by up to fifteen seconds after detecting an object. They have a highly flexible fiber-optic cable and small sensing end, making it easy to position these switches in hard to reach areas. They detect the presence or absence of an object moving at high speeds with a light beam. Adjust the intensity of the light beam to better detect shiny or translucent objects. The fiber-optic cable can be cut to length. All are rated NEMA 6P and IP67 for protection from corrosion, washdowns and temporary submersion.

Receiver switches detect objects when an object breaks the light beam between the transmitter and receiver (both included). They have a longer sensing distance than direct-sensing switches.

DC Metallic-Object Proximity Switches
Micro
M12 Plug
Also known as inductive proximity switches, these detect metallic objects even if they’re obscured by water, oil, dirt, or a surface finish. Sensing distance is based on the target material. The distance listed is for mild steel. They’re often used with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and produce PNP or NPN signal output. To determine the signal output of a switch you are replacing, use Testers for Proximity and Photoelectric Switches (not included).
Flush switches, also known as embeddable or shielded switches, can be mounted so that the sensor face is level with the surface of any material, including metal. They’re more accurate than projecting switches at close range and can be mounted close together without causing interference. Projecting switches, also known as non-embeddable or unshielded switches, must be mounted with the area around the sensor face free of metal. They have a longer sensing distance than flush switches with the same diameter.
Switches with a plug connect to cables with a socket (sold separately), allowing you to quickly connect and disconnect the switch.
Switches with IO link can be configured remotely when connected to a PLC, a human-machine interface (HMI), or a computer.
IP67 and IP68 rated switches are protected from temporary submersion. NEMA 6P rated switches are protected from corrosion and washdowns.

Harsh Environment DC Universal-Object Proximity Switches
Micro
M12 Plug
Rated NEMA 6P, 12, IP68 and IP69K, these switches protect against corrosion and high-pressure, high-temperature washdowns. Also known as capacitive proximity switches, they remotely sense both metallic and nonmetallic objects but their strength is in sensing materials such as plastic, ceramic, and clear targets. They’re often used with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and produce PNP or NPN signal output. To determine the signal output of a switch you are replacing, use Testers for Proximity and Photoelectric Switches (not included). They mount flush with the surface of any material, including metal, and are also known as embeddable or shielded switches. The 4-pole Micro M12 plug connects to cables with sockets (sold separately), allowing you to quickly connect and disconnect the switch.

Ultrasonic Switches
Detect objects and liquid or material levels to set off actions in your system—regardless of size, shape, or surface finish. These switches send out high-frequency sound waves that target small areas, so the surface and structure of your object won't affect results like photoelectric sensors, which sense using light. This makes them great for materials with uneven surfaces, such as granules and powder. They also sense objects when obscured by smoke, dust, debris, or water, but they don't work as well where there's wind, since it could disrupt their sound waves. Once an object is detected or a set level is reached, the digital output sends a signal to your controller to turn components in your system on or off. Use their plug to quickly connect and disconnect to cables with a socket (sold separately). UL listed, C-UL listed, and CE marked, all meet American, Canadian, and European safety standards.
Switches with two outputs let you set a minimum level on one output and a maximum on the other—for example, you can keep liquid levels constant by turning on a pump when the level drops too low and turning off the pump when it reaches the maximum.
Switches with PNP/NPN signal output automatically produce the signal you need based on the connected device.
90° elbow switches are compact to fit in tight spaces. They’re best for conveyors.
Rated IP67, all of these switches seal out dust and water if briefly submersed. NEMA 6 rated switches also stand up to weather and washdowns.

Light Beam Finger-Touch Switches
An infrared light beam senses the lightest finger contact to switch a circuit on or off. The included guard prevents accidental activation. An indicator lights up to confirm that switches are actuated. They’re rated NEMA 4X, 13, and IP66 for protection from corrosion, washdowns, and oil/coolant spraying.
Switches with a 5-pole mini plug can quickly be changed out.

Noncontact Level Switches for Conductive Liquids
Measure the level of conductive liquids without drilling a hole in your tank—these switches mount to the outside of the tank and track the capacitance between them and the tank’s contents. Use them on nonconductive plastic or glass wall tanks; they’re not compatible with metal tanks. They automatically adapt to your tank’s wall thickness, making them ready to use. These switches only respond when the liquid reaches the desired level, so foam and residue on the top of the liquid won’t trigger them early. For even more challenging setups, such as those with thick, sticky fluids, or if your tank has walls as thick as 10 mm, you can teach these switches to avoid false detections. All have LED indicators to show their power and output status.
Made of plastic, their body is chemical resistant and NEMA and IP rated, so it keeps out dust and dirt, as well as drips of oil and jets of hot water. UL listed, C-UL listed, and CE marked, they meet U.S., Canadian, and European Union safety standards.
Mount these switches directly on your sight glass using their adhesive back or use the included mounting bracket if you’ll need to remove them frequently. They also include foam pads for mounting them using straps around the outside of your tank.
PNP switches communicate with your system by sending a positive signal. NPN switches send a negative signal to communicate with your system.
Switches with an M8 4-pin connection have a standard plug that’s easy to connect. Switches with wire leads need to be hardwired, so use them in applications where you won’t move them often.

Ultrasonic Transmitters
Measure the distance to objects and the level of liquids and materials despite size, shape, or surface finish, and send that information to other parts of your system. Unlike photoelectric switches, which use light to detect objects, these transmitters emit high-frequency sound waves that target small spots, so the surface and structure of your object won’t affect results. This makes them great for materials with uneven surfaces, such as granules and powder. They also sense objects in dirty and wet places, but they don’t work well where there’s wind, since it could disrupt their sound waves. Use their plug to quickly connect and disconnect to cables with a socket (sold separately). UL listed, C-UL listed, and CE marked, they meet American, Canadian, and European safety standards.
All transmitters have an analog output, which means they continuously send measurements to monitor status and manage components in your system.
90° elbow transmitters are compact to fit in tight spaces. They’re best for conveyors.
Rated IP67, all of these transmitters seal out dust and water if briefly submersed. NEMA 6 rated transmitters also stand up to weather and washdowns.
