Rated IP69K, these switches can withstand high-pressure and high-temperature washdowns. They detect the presence or absence of an object with a light beam moving at high speeds and produce PNP or NPN signal output. To determine the signal output of a switch you are replacing, use Testers for Proximity and Photoelectric Switches (not included).
IP67 and IP68 rated switches are protected from temporary submersion.
Direct sensing switches detect objects when light reflects back from the object. The transmitter and receiver are in the same housing, so they fit in confined spaces.
Receiver switches detect objects when an object breaks the light beam between the transmitter and receiver (both included). They have a longer sensing distance than direct-sensing and reflector switches.
Reflector switches detect an object when it passes between the switch and the reflector, interrupting the beam. They have a longer sensing distance than direct-sensing switches.
Switches with a plug connect to cables with a socket (sold separately), allowing you to quickly connect and disconnect the switch.
Color immune switches have the same sensing distance for dark and light colored objects.

Wide-Angle Safety Barrier Switches
Scanning 275° side-to-side for people and objects, these switches (known as safety laser scanners) cover large areas and send signals to machinery to prevent accidents. Unlike other safety switches, which have a separate transmitter and receiver, these switches include the transmitter and receiver in a single unit. They trigger when light bounces off an object and back to the switch.
These switches respond to two types of areas: safety zones and warning zones. Safety zones act like traditional barrier switches—when a person or object enters the safety zone, they shut down machinery. When used with automatic guided vehicles (AGVs), the safety zone makes sure the vehicle has enough time to stop. Unlike other barrier switches, you can also add warning zones. Entering the warning zone triggers flashing lights, sirens, and other alarms, but doesn’t stop the machine. For AGVs, objects in the warning zone trigger reduced speed. Set up multiple warning zones to trigger escalating signals and precautions as the person or object gets closer to the machine. Switches with 10 or more zone settings let AGVs take more complex routes.
To program what areas to protect, what size objects they’ll detect, configure inputs and outputs, and view data, these switches come with their own software. This includes a muting feature, so you can program them to allow specific materials to pass through the scanning field without triggering a shut down. All have PNP output, so they communicate by sending a positive signal. They also have four LED status indicators and a digital display with push-button controls.
Rated IP65, these switches can be hosed down. They’re UL and C-UL listed, CE marked, and TUV certified, so they meet U.S. and international safety standards. They also meet EN, ISO, and IEC standards for performance and safety.
When choosing a switch, consider how much area you need to cover and how many machines you want to control. Independent switches monitor up to 275° of a single area. For more coverage, use master switches with up to three remote switches. This system can monitor a full circle around a large machine or a long space, such as the area along a conveyor. Connect remote switches to each other and to the master switch using remote switch cables. The number of safety outputs, also known as output signal switching devices (OSSDs), tells you how many machines you can control. Each output has a pair of signals that shut down a single machine—if one signal fails, the other takes over as a failsafe.
Master switches with encoder input monitor and adjust your AGV's speed without needing a separate PLC or other controller. Mount them directly onto your vehicle to make sure the safety zone is always large enough to prevent collisions.
Switches with 8- and 12-pole M12 sockets offer versatility as your application changes—use either the 8-pole or 12-pole connection without having to rewire. Switches with 8- and 17-pole M12 sockets require you to use the 17-pole connection; the 8-pole connection is optional if you want more inputs.
Safety relays have a microprocessor that monitors safety components, such as emergency stops and light curtains, and sends a signal to stop the operation if a failure is detected and restart when the issue is resolved. They also help with diagnostic tasks because of their feedback circuit, which allows basic relays to communicate their status back to the safety relay. They have self-monitoring circuitry, so they’ll keep working even if there’s a component or power failure. Any system that doesn’t have a safety control component will need a safety relay. They meet ISO and IEC standards for performance and safety. Rated IP20, they prevent fingers and other objects from touching live circuits. However, they’re not protected from water.
Power/input/output cables are required for independent and master switches. Data cables are required for connecting switches to your computer. This lets you program and monitor the switches, as well as read their measurement data.
Tilt mounting brackets up and down to make switches scan the correct area. Side-to-side brackets also move left and right. Add protective brackets to shield the tops of switches from falling objects and collisions. Use them with a mounting bracket.

Solenoid Valve
and Cable Lead
A slim design and a light beam that’s angled upwards allow these switches to sense objects from between conveyor rollers. Because they’re photoelectric, they can detect objects that are moving quickly. All are adjustable, so you can increase the intensity of the light beam to sense shiny or translucent objects. These switches have an M12 connection to quickly connect and disconnect from your switch. Add cables (sold separately) to switches with a plug to wire them into your setup.
Switches with an NFC connection can be programmed and calibrated through a free app on your smartphone. This way, you can leave the switch installed while calibrating it.
Direct sensing switches project light onto an object and then detect the reflection to actuate. The transmitter and receiver are in the same housing, so these switches fit in tight spaces. They require a quick-clip mounting bracket (sold separately).
Reflector switches detect an object when it passes between the switch and the reflector, interrupting the beam. They have a longer sensing distance than direct-sensing switches. They can be mounted with an L-shaped mounting bracket (sold separately).
IP65 switches protect against dust and splashing water.Switches with a solenoid valve allow you to control air-powered conveyor drives directly from the switch.
Switches with a conveyor on/off switch allow you to control when conveyors start and stop—no need for a separate controller.

DC Metallic-Object Proximity Switches

Nano
M8 Plug
Also known as inductive proximity switches, these detect metallic objects even if they’re obscured by water, oil, dirt, or a surface finish. Sensing distance is based on the target material. The distance listed is for mild steel. They’re often used with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and produce PNP or NPN signal output. To determine the signal output of a switch you are replacing, use Testers for Proximity and Photoelectric Switches (not included).
Flush switches, also known as embeddable or shielded switches, can be mounted so that the sensor face is level with the surface of any material, including metal. They’re more accurate than projecting switches at close range and can be mounted close together without causing interference.
Switches with a plug connect to cables with a socket (sold separately), allowing you to quickly connect and disconnect the switch.
IP65 rated switches are protected from washdowns. IP67 and IP68 rated switches are protected from temporary submersion.

Flat-Body AC/DC Metallic-Object Proximity Switches

Mount these flat inductive switches to a base or rail to remotely detect metallic objects in wet and dirty environments. Because these switches have a flat body and long sensing range, they are ideal for noncontact detection of metal objects in position sensing and part presence applications. Use them where cylindrical switches will not fit. Sensing distance is based on the target material. The distance listed is for mild steel. All switches meet American, Canadian, and European safety standards.
Projecting switches are also known as non-embeddable or unshielded switches. They must be mounted with the area around the sensor face free of metal. They have a longer sensing distance than flush switches of similar size.
IP65 rated switches protect against dust and low-pressure jets of water.

Rotatable AC/DC Metallic-Object Proximity Switches
Rotate the face on these switches five different directions for easy installation and positioning—they work with both AC and DC inputs. Unlike traditional limit switches that have actuators, these noncontact switches adjust for front, top, bottom, left, or right facing objects. They have inductive sensors to detect objects even if they’re covered by water, oil, dirt, or a surface finish, making them good for conveyor systems and bin filing operations in refineries, mills, and other challenging environments. Maximum sensing distance is based on the object's material; the distance listed is for mild steel.
They are UL and C-UL listed, as well as CE marked, to meet American, Canadian, and European Union safety standards. Some are also CSA certified.
Flush switches, also called embeddable and shielded switches, are more accurate than projecting switches at close range. They also won’t interfere with each other’s signals when installed close together. The face mounts evenly with any material, including metal.
Projecting switches, also known as non-embeddable and unshielded switches, sense objects farther away than flush switches. To work properly, the area around the face must be metal free.
All have 3-pole micro connectors to easily connect and disconnect.
IP-rated, they all seal out dust and debris. IP 65-rated switches protect against low-pressure washdowns, such as water from a garden hose.

Projecting switches, also known as non-embeddable or unshielded switches, must be mounted with the area around the sensor face free of metal. They have a longer sensing distance than flush switches with the same diameter.
Switches with a plug connect to cables with socket (sold separately), allowing you to quickly connect and disconnect the switch.
Switches with IO link can be configured remotely when connected to a PLC, a human-machine interface (HMI), or a computer.
Switches with PNP/NPN signal output automatically produce the type of signal output that is needed based on the device they are connected to.
IP65 switches are protected from washdowns. Switches rated IP67 are protected from temporary submersion. Choose IP69K switches to withstand high-pressure, high-temperature washdowns.

AC/DC Universal-Object Proximity Switches

Switches accept both AC and DC input voltage. Also known as capacitive proximity switches, they remotely sense both metallic and nonmetallic objects but their strength is in sensing materials such as plastic, ceramic, and clear targets. All are projecting switches, and must be mounted with the area around the sensor face free of metal.
Switches with a plug connect to cables with a socket (sold separately), allowing you to quickly connect and disconnect the switch.
IP65 rated switches are protected from washdowns.

Fixture-Mount Motion-Sensing Light Controls
Detect motion near your light fixture to turn lights on and off. Compared to switch-mount motion controls that detect from a single wall, these controls have a better view of the entire space since they sense motion from above. Also known as occupancy sensors, these controls have an infrared sensor that activates when it detects a change in heat. To work properly, they need an unobstructed view of your space. All have a time delay to turn lights off after a set time. Rated IP65, these controls are protected from washdowns.
These light controls monitor motion in a full circle for coverage in all directions. Those that cover 7,690 sq. ft. have lenses that can be swapped out to limit where they sense. Half-circle sensing lenses are best for concentrating coverage to a certain part of a room, such as a workstation or an entrance. Narrow sensing lenses are best for the end of aisles in spaces with high ceilings like those in warehouses and factories.

Finger-Touch Switches

The light touch of a finger turns circuits on and off without pressing down a contact. Program these switches to fit your application—control their color, pattern, and sensitivity. Change the color to show different process statuses. For more visibility, change the intensity of the color or choose a light pattern. These switches can flash, rotate, and show other patterns, all at speeds you can control. To change how much force they need to actuate, alter the sensitivity. With a high sensitivity, they’ll actuate even if you’re wearing gloves. With a low sensitivity, they’re more resistant to accidental actuation.
To program your switch, download the free Banner Pro Editor Software. You’ll need a switch programming kit (sold separately) to connect your switch to the software.
Switches with an audible alarm can be programmed to 12 different tones ranging from sirens to melodies.

Fingerprint Switches

Use fingerprints to confirm the identity of personnel before granting access to secure areas or equipment. Switches light up green to indicate that they have accepted the fingerprint and are sending an output signal. The front faces of the switches meet NEMA 12 and IP65. The rear faces of the switches meet IP20.
Covers (sold separately) have an adhesive-back hinge, so you can stick them on to your switch. Keep the cover flipped down to protect the switch’s sensor from dust and debris.

Two-Hand Safety Switches
It takes two hands to activate these switches, minimizing the risk of accidental equipment start up. They have an emergency stop push-button to immediately cut power. They’re rated IP65 for protection from low-pressure washdowns.
Switches with finger-touch actuators turn circuits on and off with a light touch, even when wearing gloves. An infrared sensor detects the lightest finger contact, and an indicator lights up to confirm when they are activated. Because they don't require you to press down a button to operate, they meet ANSI B11.TR1 standards to reduce hand, wrist, and arm fatigue. You'll need a relay or controller to complete your system—upgrade to a controller if you plan to operate additional devices beyond your switch.
Safety controller expansion modules can be added to safety controllers to increase the number of inputs.
Telescoping stands can be added to switches with finger-touch actuators to mount them away from a wall. The stands telescope to adjust the height of the switch and tilt to adjust the angle of the switch.
