Tight-Clearance Screw Starters
The slim body reaches into tight spots to grip and turn screws. Use the magnet at the end of the handle to retrieve dropped fasteners. Screw starters are not intended for final tightening or removal of fasteners.
Starters with wedge tip fit a variety of drive styles. Push the sleeve on the handle forward and insert the tip into screw head. Pull the sleeve back and the tip splits to hold the screw firmly. Once threads are started, the tool releases the screw.
Starters with twist tip secure in the screw head by pushing and turning the tool. As the fastener is tightened, the starter tip releases.

Screw Starter Sets

Electrical-Insulating Screw Starters




An insulated handle and body protect against shock from accidental contact with live electrical circuits. These tools are tested to 1,000 volts to meet IEC 60900. Insert the twist tip into the screw head, push down, and turn to secure. As the screw is tightened, the starter tip releases. Use the magnet at the end of the handle to retrieve dropped fasteners. Nut Starters


Start and initially turn nuts in hard-to-reach spots. Insert closed jaws at the tip into the nut, then pull the sleeve back to open the jaws and grip. The starter releases from the nut as the threads are engaged. These tools are not intended for final tightening or removal of fasteners.

Screw-Holding Screwdrivers



A holding feature at the tip of the tool ensures the screw won’t slip off.
Standard-tip screwdrivers have a sleeve that holds the screw head to start screws in hard-to-reach places. Once the screw is started, release the clamping sleeve and finish tightening. They have a cushion grip for comfort and some slip resistance.

Screw-Holding Precise-Control Screwdrivers
