Heavy Duty Epoxy Primers for Metal

Get the power of a two-part epoxy primer in an easy-to-use aerosol can. These primers have excellent chemical and corrosion resistance. Spray them on uncoated or rusty metal to extend the life of paint and coatings. The two parts are contained in the same can; after activating, epoxy is usable for up to four days.
Primers for Metal

Add long-term corrosion protection to uncoated or rusty metal surfaces. These primers prepare your surface to extend the life of paint and coatings. Apply with a brush, roller, or sprayer.
Acrylic primers are available in two colors. Choose gray primer for light-colored topcoats; red for dark topcoats.
Polyurethane primers can be applied in environments with high humidity or extreme temperatures. Surface must be visibly dry and free of frost and ice.

Rust-Converting Primers for Metal

These primers convert rust into a layer of protection that prevents new rust from forming. Use them to prepare your surface to extend the life of paint and coatings.
Apply coatings in a can with a brush, roller, or sprayer.

Galvanizing Zinc Primers for Metal

A high concentration of zinc gives these primers excellent corrosion resistance for protecting steel—when exposed to moisture and chemicals, the zinc rusts before the underlying steel can. They’re often used with structural steel to prepare the surface for paint while forming a protective layer. Apply with a brush, roller, or sprayer.
Polyurethane primers can be applied in environments with high humidity. They allow underlying moisture to escape while preventing additional water from getting in. Surface must be visibly dry and free of frost and ice.
Epoxy primers have excellent abrasion resistance. The container size listed is the combined total of the three parts.

Powder Coating Primers

Prepare metal surfaces for powder coating. These primers create a base layer that bonds with your top coat to extend the life of your powder coating. Use a powder coating sprayer to apply these primers directly to unpainted metal and cure in an oven.
Zinc/epoxy primers have excellent corrosion resistance, so they’re often used to protect metal that rusts easily, such as steel and cast iron.
