Swirl-Free Air-Powered Disc Sanders

The orbital motion produces more consistent finishes than standard disc sanders. Also known as random orbital sanders. They work with either adhesive-back discs or hook and loop discs.
12 1/2"-long sanders give you more control than shorter sanders. They’re useful for sanding the vertical sides of workpieces because you can use two hands to control them.
Sanders with 3/8" orbit diameter are good for aggressive sanding, such as shaping material.
Sanders with 3/16" orbit diameter are useful for general purpose sanding.
Sanders with 3/32" orbit diameter are best for finishing pieces with ultra-fine sanding.

Static-Control Swirl-Free Air-Powered Disc Sanders

Dissipate electrostatic discharge (ESD) for safety when sanding. These sanders have a copper ground wire to divert ESD away from users, sensitive equipment, and combustible materials. They’re often used for sanding across multiple materials—such as wood to fiberglass—as doing so can generate harmful static. Connect the copper wire to the ground of either a vacuum system or an outlet. These sanders also have two 1-megaohm resistors for protection in case there’s accidental contact with an electrical current.
Also known as random orbital sanders, these sanders move in small irregular circles. No single part of the abrasive follows the same path twice, resulting in a swirl-free finish. This leaves a more consistent finish than rotary or orbital disc sanders. To prevent clogs and remove debris from your environment, attach these sanders to a vacuum system. Designed for heavy duty applications, these sanders are powerful enough to quickly remove lots of material without getting bogged down. And they’re lightweight, so they’re easy to control and won’t tire you out after long periods of use. Use with hook and loop sanding discs.

Air-Powered Disc Sanders
With a fixed rotary movement, these sanders remove more material from workpieces than random orbital sanders. However, they may leave swirl marks on the surface as a result.
Sanders for adhesive-back discs come with a backup pad for use with adhesive-back discs.

Air-Powered Detail Disc Sanders
Originally designed to repair the clear coat on cars, these sanders smooth out imperfections on your most delicate workpieces. With a 1 1/4" disc that moves in a very small circular pattern, they remove tiny specks of dust that are trapped in the finish. These sanders provide a lighter sand than random orbital sanders. Ideal for detailed work, they are compact, lightweight, and produce little vibration. Use with adhesive-back sanding discs (sold separately).

Swirl-Free Electric Disc Sanders

Prevent swirl marks to leave a more consistent finish than rotary disc sanders. Also known as random orbital sanders, these sanders move in small irregular circles. No single part of the abrasive follows the same path twice, resulting in a swirl-free finish. A dust collection system draws dust through the sanding pad and into a collection canister. This keeps your work surface clean and reduces how much dust is kicked into the air. Use with hook and loop sanding discs.

Nylon Mesh Pad Sanding Blocks

Attach a nylon mesh sanding pad (sold separately) to these blocks for improved comfort and control. Teeth on the bottom of the block sink into the mesh of the sanding pad to hold it in place. Use them with pads at least the size of your block. They're most commonly used with standard 6” Wd. × 9” Lg. sanding pads.

Hand Sanding Blocks
Attach abrasives to the flat or curved side of these blocks for improved comfort and control. Sanding sheets are sold separately.

Sheet Sanding Block Assortments

Keep a variety of sanding blocks on hand to smooth workpieces of all shapes and sizes. The blocks in these assortments are more comfortable to hold than a sheet alone and give you greater control while you sand. Larger blocks are good for finishing wide surfaces; smaller blocks squeeze into tight spaces. All are bright yellow, so they’re easy to spot in dusty shops. Pair them with adhesive-back or hook-and-loop sanding sheets and rolls (sold separately).

Electric Sheet Sanders

With rapid back and forth movements in a straight line, these sanders remove more material than random orbital sheet sanders. Adjust their speed to fit your task. Higher speeds remove material quickly; lower speeds prevent damage and burns to delicate material. Rectangular in shape, they reach into corners and fit along edges better than disc sanders. A dust collection system draws dust through the sanding pad and into a collection canister. This keeps your work surface clean and reduces the amount of dust flying in the air. These sanders may leave scratches on your surface because they're moving so quickly. You can remove those scratches by sanding with a finer grit. Sanding sheets are sold separately.
