About On/Off Valves
More
Compact Threaded On/Off Valves
Install these valves in tight spots, such as where pipelines are crowded together. They’re less than half as long as standard threaded valves and one-third shorter in height.
Bronze valves are stronger and more durable than brass valves. 316 stainless steel valves have the best corrosion resistance.
Short-lever handles and T-handles resist accidental movement when snagged or bumped. Lever handles are easy to open and close—they give you the most leverage of any handle type.
Valves with threaded outlets can connect to pipe or hose, giving you more control over where your fluid flows than valves with a drain or spout outlet.
Valves with a drain or spout outlet direct flow to a drain or bucket with minimal splashing. Install valves with a drain outlet to the bottom of a tank. Install valves with a spout outlet to the side of a tank.

Plastic On/Off Valves with Barbed Fittings
Barbs grip onto tubing, providing a secure hold.
T-handles resist accidental movement when snagged or bumped.
Standard-port valves slightly restrict flow.
Flow coefficient (Cv) is the amount of water (in gallons per minute) at 60° F that will flow through a fully open valve with a difference of 1 psi between the inlet and the outlet.

These valves have barbs that grip onto tubing, providing a secure hold. Because they’re made of metal, they are more durable than plastic valves and withstand higher temperatures.
316 stainless steel valves have the best corrosion resistance.
Valves with single barbs have a smooth clamping surface for extra-tight connections that minimize leaks.

On/Off Valves with Quick-Turn Fittings
Also known as luer-lock couplings, quick-turn fittings consist of a plug and a socket that connect with a half turn, so you can easily connect and disconnect your line.
Polycarbonate valves are lightweight and more economical than nickel-plated brass valves, but they are not as durable. These valves have a T-handle that resists accidental movement when snagged or bumped.
Nickel-plated brass valves are more corrosion resistant and durable than polycarbonate valves, however they are heavier and more expensive.

Compact Threaded On/Off Valves for Chemicals
For chemical-processing applications in confined areas, these valves have a low-profile handle to fit in tight spots. A rubber seal and a plastic body stand up to aggressive, corrosive solutions.
Full-port valves do not restrict flow. Standard-port valves slightly restrict flow.

Sanitary Sampling Valves

- Valve Type: Stop Cock
- For Use With: Food, Beverage
- Specifications Met: FDA Compliant 21 CFR 177.2600, FDA Compliant 21 CFR 177.1550
Take liquid samples in sanitary environments—these sampling valves have a hygienic design, so they’re commonly used in breweries and wineries. With a body made of 316 stainless steel and a PTFE plastic seat, they resist the high temperatures and harsh chemicals of clean-in-place (CIP) processes. These valves have an extremely smooth surface, leaving no space for bacteria to grow. Quick-clamp connections, also known as tri-clamp fittings, are easily taken apart for regular cleaning. These valves are self-draining, so previous samples and cleaning chemicals won’t contaminate future samples. Both the seat and the silicone O-ring comply with FDA standards for direct contact with food and beverage.
To take samples, turn the thumb screw to open valves. Hang a bucket for sample collection from the bucket groove. Valves also have a leak detection port that will release a small amount of liquid to let you know when it’s time to replace all the valve seals.
Valves with a bent spout have a tab for connecting carbon dioxide testing devices. They’re often used for carbonated beverages. They shouldn’t be used with liquids that have solids in them, such as the grape skins or seeds in wine, as those can get caught in the outlet.
