Marine-Grade Copper Nickel Sheets

- Yield Strength: 15,000 psi
- Hardness: Not Rated
- Temper: M20
- Heat Treatable: No
- Specifications Met: ASTM B171
Make plates for offshore drilling platforms, water boxes, valves, and other marine equipment that withstands salt water. Also known as cupro nickel, these copper nickel sheets resist rusting better than stainless steel. They also resist damage from algae and barnacle buildup, so you can even use them to build boat hulls—no protective paint needed. When carrying heavy loads, they won’t crack from chlorides, though they’re more likely to develop small holes from sulfides compared to stainless steel. They’re also sometimes used to house copper tubes to stop them from corroding nearby metal.
Like other copper alloys, these sheets are easy to machine and join with similar materials. You can spot weld, braze, and solder them. They carry electric currents and cool down quickly, making them good heat exchangers for fluids in HVAC systems and water treatment plants. Extreme freezing temperatures, even cryogenic levels, won’t reduce their strength or formability. They also stand up to humidity.
When cleaned regularly, these sheets prevent the growth of bacteria, viruses, and fungi. This makes them a good choice for hardware that’s touched frequently.

Marine-Grade Copper Nickel Rods

- Yield Strength: 15,000 psi
- Hardness: Not Rated
- Temper Rating: Softened (Annealed)
- Heat Treatable: No
- Specifications Met: ASTM B151
From fasteners to ferrules to fittings—machine these rods into parts that stand up to salt water. Made of copper nickel, also called cupro nickel, they resist rusting better than stainless steel. They also resist corrosion from algae and barnacle buildup. While these rods are more likely to develop pits from sulfides than stainless steel, they won’t crack from chlorides, even when carrying heavy loads. They’re commonly turned into valves and pump parts and even used in water treatment plants.
Similar to other copper alloys, these rods are easy to form and join with like materials. Spot weld, braze, and solder them. They carry electric currents and cool down quickly, so they’re often used as heat exchangers for fluids that are cooled or heated often, like in HVAC systems. You can use them in extreme freezing temperatures—even cryogenic levels—and they won’t lose their strength or formability. They also hold up in humidity.
These rods stop bacteria, viruses, and fungi from growing when cleaned regularly, making them a good choice for equipment that’s frequently touched.

Marine-Grade Copper Nickel Tubes

- Yield Strength: 15,000 psi
- Hardness: Not Rated
- Temper Rating: Softened (Annealed)
- Heat Treatable: No
- Specifications Met: ASTM B111, MIL-T-15005
Commonly used in water treatment plants, these tubes withstand salt water and can be used to make shims, ferrules, and washers. Made from an alloy known as cupro nickel, they resist corrosion and stress-cracking from chlorides better than stainless steel. They also resist rusting, withstand humidity, and will not corrode from algae and barnacle build-up. However, these tubes are more likely to develop pits from sulfides than stainless steel. A good choice for cryogenic processing plants, these tubes remain ductile and strong even at freezing temperatures.
Like other copper alloys, these tubes are easy to machine. Spot weld, braze, and solder them to join them with like materials. They conduct electricity and heat, so they are often used in heat exchangers and condensers in HVAC systems and applications where fluids need cooling or heating. When cleaned regularly these tubes resist bacteria, fungi, and viruses, so they can be used in high-touch areas on ships and in healthcare settings.
