About Cam Latches and Locks
More
Triangle-Drive Cam Locks
Open these locks with a triangle key—it’s more secure than a hex key or screwdriver, yet still matches a common keying system for industrial enclosures and other machinery.
Locks with a fixed latching distance are best when you know the precise distance you need. Since you won’t have to adjust the cam into position, they’re faster to install than locks with an adjustable latching distance. They come with multiple cams to accommodate different latching distances.
Locks with an adjustable latching distance handle a wide range of latching distances, so they’re best for tasks when precise distances are unknown. Adjust the position of the cam before installing. They project further into the enclosure than those with a fixed latching distance.
Locks with a roller or protected cam rotate more smoothly than those with straight and offset cams, making them easier to open and close. The cam won’t scratch or flake enclosure surfaces to protect electronics inside from paint or metal chips.
Stainless steel and plastic locks resist corrosion better than zinc locks. Plastic locks are the lightest in weight and do not conduct electricity. However, they’re easier to drill into and tamper with compared to metal locks.
Style A have a low profile and Style F are flush with the surface, so they won’t catch on anything that passes by. The back of the lock may project further into your enclosure than locks with a standard profile.
Locks with a pull tab give you a spot to grab to easily open doors and panels.
All have a gasket that keeps dust and water from getting in through the lock. This helps you maintain your sealed enclosure’s IP or NEMA rating. IP65 rated locks seal out water from low-pressure washdowns. IP67 rated locks block out water if your sealed enclosure is briefly submersed.
EN 45545 rated locks meet flammability standards.

Tight-Hold Triangle-Drive Cam Locks
Also known as compression cam locks, these locks create a tighter hold than a traditional cam lock, making them useful for doors that have a seal. Turn the head a quarter turn to lock, then turn it another quarter turn to create compression and minimize rattling from vibration. All of these locks open with a triangle key, so they're more secure than locks that open with a hex or slotted driver yet still match a common keying system for industrial enclosures and other machinery.
Locks with a fixed latching distance are best when you know the precise distance you need. Since you won’t have to adjust the cam into position, these are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance. Those with straight and offset cams include multiple cams, so you can change the fixed latching distance.
Locks with an adjustable latching distance handle a wide range of latching distances, so they’re best for tasks when precise distances are unknown. Adjust the position of the cam before you begin to install them. They project further into the enclosure than those with a fixed distance.
Locks with a roller cam rotate more smoothly than those with straight and offset cams, making them easier to open and close. The cam won't scrape paint or metal chips off the frame that can damage sensitive electronics inside the enclosure. These locks are flush with the surface, so you won’t bump into or catch clothes on them.
Stainless steel locks are more corrosion resistant than zinc and aluminum locks. They won’t rust in areas that are constantly exposed to moisture. Although less corrosion resistant than stainless steel, aluminum locks resist rusting better than zinc locks. They’re also the lightest in weight.
For locks with mounting holes, the installation hole can be made with a round hole instead of the irregularly shaped standard cam hole. This is especially helpful if the material of the door is difficult to cut or part of an existing structure. Push the lock into your through hole and secure it with fasteners so it won’t rotate as you turn the head.
IP or NEMA rated locks have a gasket that helps keep dust and water from washdowns or brief submersions from entering through the lock. This helps you maintain your sealed enclosure's IP or NEMA rating.

Vibration-Resistant Triangle-Drive Cam Locks
A spring-loaded bushing keeps your enclosure door from vibrating open. These locks combine the vibration resistance of a tight-hold lock with the simple operation of a quarter-turn cam lock. However, they don't close as tightly as tight-hold locks. All have an arm that rotates 90° to secure your enclosure. They include multiple cams, so you can change their fixed latching distance. Since you won’t have to adjust the cams into position, these locks are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance.
These locks open with a triangle key (sold separately), so they're more secure than locks that open with a hex or slotted driver yet still match a common keying system for industrial enclosures and other machinery. They have a concealed design to stop others from tampering with them using pliers. An O-ring helps keep dust and low-pressure washdowns from entering through the lock. This helps maintain your sealed enclosure's IP65 rating.
Use stainless steel locks in areas that are constantly exposed to moisture since they resist corrosion better than zinc locks.
Style B locks have a flat surface that offers more security and dust protection than typical cam locks. Their bushing remains depressed when the lock is not fully closed, so you can see when the latch is not secure.

Miniature Triangle-Drive Cam Locks
Designed for smaller-than-standard-diameter through holes, these locks are often installed in cabinet doors. They open with a triangle key (sold separately), so they’re more secure than locks that open with a hex or slotted driver. They match a keying system that is common for industrial enclosures, control cabinets, and other machinery, so you can keep a simple keying system around your facility. Their concealed design stops others from tampering with them using pliers. Also known as quarter-turn locks, these locks have an attached arm that rotates 90° to lock your enclosure. A gasket prevents water, dust, and dirt from getting into an enclosure through the lock. This helps you maintain an IP65 and NEMA 4 rating in your sealed enclosure. All come with multiple cams to accommodate different latching distances.
Pull tabs (sold separately) make opening your door or panel easier.
Sealing covers (sold separately) keep water and dust from getting inside the lock cylinder.

Snap-In Triangle-Drive Cam Locks
Quickly snap these locks into a through-hole cutout—there’s no need to fasten them with a screw. All fit snugly in their cutout to stand up to the same vibration as a traditional cam lock will. Also known as quarter-turn locks, these locks have an arm that rotates 90° to secure enclosures. The locks help maintain your sealed enclosure's IP rating for low-pressure washdowns to help keep their contents safe from water damage.
These locks open with a triangle key, so they’re more secure than locks that open with a hex or slotted driver yet still match a common keying system for industrial enclosures and other machinery. They have a concealed design to stop others from tampering with them using pliers.
All of these locks include one cam with a fixed latching distance. Since you won’t have to adjust the cam into position, they are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance.
Locks with a pull tab make it easier to open doors than other locks that don’t have an added grip.

Tight-Hold Triangle-Drive Cam Locks for Pressurized Enclosures
Mount these two-piece locks on sealed pressurized enclosures to gradually release pressure and prevent your door from bursting open. A quarter turn partially opens the door and lets the pressure escape while the door is still latched. Another quarter turn fully opens the door. Also known as compression cam locks, these locks create a tighter hold than a traditional cam lock, making them useful for doors that have a seal. To lock, turn the head a quarter turn, then another quarter turn to create compression and minimize rattling from vibration.
These locks open with a triangle key (sold separately), so they're more secure than locks that open with a hex or slotted driver yet still match a common keying system for industrial enclosures and other machinery. They have a concealed design to stop others from tampering with them using pliers. Since these locks do not extend inside the enclosure when installed, you’ll have full use of the inside space.

High-Pressure Washdown Tight-Hold Triangle-Drive Cam Locks
A seal helps keep high-pressure, high-temperature washdowns and dust from entering through the lock. This helps you maintain an IP69K rating on sealed enclosures that are often used in food processing plants. Also known as compression cam locks, these locks create a tighter hold than a traditional cam lock, making them useful for doors that have a seal. Turn the head a quarter turn to lock, then turn it another quarter turn to create compression and minimize rattling from vibration.
These locks open with a triangle key (sold separately), so they're more secure than locks that open with a hex or slotted driver yet still match a common keying system for industrial enclosures and other machinery. They have a concealed design to stop others from tampering with them using pliers.
Locks with a fixed latching distance are best when you know the precise distance you need. Since you won’t have to adjust the cam into position, these are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance. All include multiple cams, so you can change the fixed latching distance.
Locks with an adjustable latching distance handle a wide range of latching distances, so they’re best for tasks when precise distances are unknown. Adjust the position of the cam before you begin to install them. They project further into the enclosure than those with a fixed distance.
Use stainless steel locks in areas that are constantly exposed to moisture since they resist corrosion better than zinc locks.
These locks are flush with the surface, so you won’t bump into or catch clothes on them.

High-Pressure Washdown Triangle-Drive Cam Locks
A gasket helps keep high-pressure, high-temperature washdowns and dust from entering through the lock. This helps you maintain an IP69K rating on sealed enclosures that are often used in labs. Also known as quarter-turn locks, these locks have an arm that rotates 90° to secure your enclosure. All include multiple cams, so you can change their fixed latching distance.
Stainless steel and plastic locks are more corrosion resistant than zinc locks, so they’re best for areas that are constantly exposed to moisture. Plastic locks are also nonconductive and lighter in weight.

Electronic Status-Indicating Triangle-Drive Cam Locks
Trigger a light, alarm, or other device to signal your door is unlocked. These locks have a magnet on the cam that is detected by a sensor (required, sold separately). When you unlock the door, the magnet moves out of the sensing range, activating a switch that turns your device on or off. Lock the door to reset the switch. When choosing a lock, consider the magnet location that works best for your setup. Install your sensor next to the side of the cam where the magnet is located. You cannot use these locks near existing magnetic fields, since they could interfere with the sensor.
Open these locks with a triangle key (sold separately). This type of key matches a keying system that’s common for industrial enclosures and other machinery but is more secure than a hex key or screwdriver. These locks also have a flat, concealed design that stops others from tampering with them using pliers. Also known as quarter-turn locks, they have a cam that rotates 90° to close enclosure doors. You can adjust the cam’s latching distance, so these locks are best for jobs when precise distances are unknown. Adjust the position of the cam before installing.
A gasket stops dust and water from getting into your sealed enclosure through the lock. This helps you maintain your enclosure’s IP65 and NEMA 4 ratings.
Sensors with a light illuminate when the latch is open, so you can see the inside of your enclosure when you swing open the door.
Single pole, double throw (SPDT) sensors can be set to turn a device from off to on (normally open) or from on to off (normally closed).

Open-Indicating Tight-Hold Triangle-Drive Cam Locks
The spring-loaded cover pops up when these locks are open, so you’re able to see from a distance when they're unlocked. When shut, the cover keeps water and dirt from getting inside the lock cylinder to prevent damage. Also known as compression cam locks, they create a tighter hold than standard cam locks in high-vibration environments. Turn the head a quarter-turn to latch, then another quarter-turn to draw the cam firmly against the door. The second turn creates compression, which is ideal for enclosures with a seal and reduces rattling from vibration. They open with a triangle key (sold separately), so they match a keying system that's common for industrial enclosures and other machinery but are more secure than locks that open with a hex or slotted driver. Their concealed design stops others from tampering with them using pliers.
Locks with a fixed latching distance are best when you know the precise distance you need. Since you won’t have to adjust the cam into position, these are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance.
Locks with an adjustable latching distance are best for installations where precise distances are unknown. Adjust the position of the cam before you begin to install them. They project further into the enclosure than those with a fixed distance.
Stainless steel locks resist corrosion when exposed to constant moisture.
When installed in a sealed enclosure, these locks help maintain your enclosure's IP or NEMA rating. They all seal out dust and dirt but have various levels of water protection. IP65 locks help seal out water from low-pressure washdowns. IP67 locks help seal out water from temporary submersion. NEMA 4 locks help seal out water from washdowns and the weather.

Food Industry Tight-Hold Triangle-Drive Cam Locks
Designed for food-processing and hygienic applications, these locks are FDA compliant for direct contact with food. They have a smooth finish and round edges, so there are no crevices for contaminants to collect in.
Made of stainless steel, these locks won’t break down in areas that are constantly exposed to moisture. They include multiple cams, so you can change the fixed latching distance. Since you won’t have to adjust the cams into position, these are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance.

Swing-Handle Triangle-Drive Padlockable Cam Locks
Open these locks with a triangle key (sold separately)—it’s more secure than a hex key or screwdriver, yet still matches a common keying system for industrial enclosures and other machinery. Often installed on server cabinets and electrical panels, these locks have a handle that swings smoothly when you lift it to latch and unlatch the door. The cam rotates 90° as you swing the handle, so they’re also known as quarter-turn locks. When locked, the handle lies flat, which means it won’t snag anything passing by. For extra protection, these locks have a concealed design that stops others from tampering with them using pliers and a spot to attach a padlock.
A gasket stops dust and water from getting into your sealed enclosure through the lock. This helps you maintain the enclosure’s IP66 and NEMA 4 ratings. These locks come with multiple cams, so you can change their fixed latching distance.
