Plus, they’re NEMA or IP rated to seal out dirt, dust, and water from washdowns. They'll stay reliable in a wider range of temperatures than a typical office keyboard.
Keyboards with a number pad have a section of numeric keys arranged like calculator buttons for speedy data entry. Keyboards with a pointing stick or a trackpad save you space because they don’t require a mouse. They detect your finger's pressure and direction to move the on-screen cursor. However, those with a trackpad cannot be used while wearing gloves.
Keyboards with a stainless steel case are tougher and withstand harsher environments than keyboards with a plastic case.
Keyboards with a key lockout can be disabled to prevent unintended typing. They’re useful in environments where they need to be frequently cleaned.

Washdown Keyboards
Spills, sprays, and splashes are no sweat for these keyboards. They’re IP67 and NEMA 4X rated to seal the interior from dirt, dust, and sprayed water. They also withstand a wider range of temperatures than standard keyboards. Use them in nearly any environment—from food processing facilities to cold storage rooms to heat treating lines. However, they aren’t designed to hold up to impact, drops, or high vibration like our rugged keyboards.
A number pad allows for quick numeric data entry. To save space, these keyboards have a built-in trackpad you can use instead of a mouse. However, the trackpad can be difficult to use with gloves on.

Nonincendive keyboards are a reliable choice for low-risk environments. They’re best in areas where flammable gas and vapor buildups are unlikely but still possible, such as in the case of a ventilation system failure.
Intrinsically safe keyboards are best for environments with a high risk of explosion. They’re safe to use near flammable, combustible, and ignitable gas, dust, or fibers, such as in a grain handling and storage facility.
