Density Meters
with Built-In
Thermometer
Also known as hydrometers, these measure the density of a liquid compared to the density of water. Pour your liquid into a tall container and immerse the density meter into the liquid until it floats. Take the reading where the surface of the liquid touches the scale on the meter. Heavy liquids sink in water and light liquids float in water.
Meters with a built-in thermometer help you correct for temperature variations for more accurate readings.
Specific gravity is also known as relative density.

Specific Gravity Range
and Built-in Thermometer
Check the condition of battery fluid by measuring its density to indicate the state of charge.
Meter with specific gravity range of 1.1 to 1.35 can withstand drops as high as 10 feet.
Meter with built-in thermometer compensates for temperature variations for more accurate readings.
Jars for Density Meters
Get the most accurate readings when measuring liquid with a density meter. Also known as hydrometer jars, these jars are sized to eliminate surface tension that could distort readings. Pour your liquid into the jar, then immerse your density meter until it floats.

Digital Density Meters
Accurately measure the density and concentration of liquids—from salt water to battery acid—no calculating or reading scales required. These meters show readings immediately on their digital display. They only require 2 mL of liquid, less than half of a teaspoon, to take precise measurements. Switch between Specific Gravity, Brix, and other scales depending on your sample. These meters have an RFID interface, so you can quickly scan sample IDs on containers to identify liquids. They also have Bluetooth to send data wirelessly to your PC or printer. Store up to 1,200 readings, including sample IDs and time stamps, in their memory.
To measure liquids, these meters come with a filling tube and multiple syringes. Dip the filling tube directly into your sample to draw up liquid, or use a syringe to transfer your sample to the meter.
Designed for the field, these meters are IP54 rated, so they stand up to dust and splashing water.
Add a rubber housing panel for extra protection of the measuring cell.

Density Testing Flasks
Accurately measure the density of a liquid based on volume and weight. Also known as pycnometers, these flasks help you compare the specific gravity of a liquid to water. They’re often used for quality control in labs for food and beverage, pharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing. Made from borosilicate glass, these flasks resist chemicals and won’t expand or contract from temperature changes. Use the included non-mercury thermometer to check the temperature of your sample—it's tested for accuracy, has small increments for precision, and is safe for shipping and handling. You can place these flasks in a constant temperature bath to control the temperature of the liquids inside.
To find the specific gravity of a liquid, divide the weight of the testing liquid by the weight of water at the same temperature.
50 ml flasks help you comply with ASTM D153 testing standards for finding the specific gravity of pigments.
