Hex Shank Combination Drill Bits/Taps for Drills and Screwdrivers
With a drill bit point to drive into the workpiece, these taps can drill and tap holes in a single step. A 1/4" hex shank connects them directly to tools such as drills and power screwdrivers. They're made of high-speed steel and are for use on most metal and plastic.
Their spiral flutes keep chips clear by drawing them back toward the tap and out of the hole. All have a plug chamfer with 3-5 chamfered cutting threads, so they're suitable for start-to-finish tapping.
Uncoated taps are strong enough for most tapping jobs but have the shortest tool life. Titanium Nitride (TiN) coated taps resist heat and wear better than uncoated taps, letting them last up to twice as long.

Hex Shank Taps for Drills and Screwdrivers
Insert these taps directly into drills, power screwdrivers, and other tools that accept a 1/4" hex shank. They're made of high-speed steel and are for use on most metal and plastic. All have a plug chamfer with 3-5 chamfered cutting threads, so they're suitable for start-to-finish tapping. When using them to tap closed-end holes, be sure to leave sufficient space at the bottom for chips to accumulate.

Hex-Shank Tap Sets for Drills and Screwdrivers
Multiple tap sizes allow tapping a range of hole diameters. The taps in these sets connect directly to the included screwdriver and other tools that accept a 1/4" hex shank, such as drills and power screwdrivers. They're made of high-speed steel and are for use on most metal and plastic. With a plug chamfer, they're good for start-to-finish tapping, but they'll require space at the bottom of closed-end holes for chips to accumulate.

Tap and Drill Bit Sets
Drill and tap a variety of hole sizes. These taps and drill bits are for use on metal and plastic.
High-speed steel taps and drill bits have a longer tool life than carbon steel. Uncoated high-speed steel taps and drill bits are strong enough for most jobs but don’t last as long as other high-speed steel taps and drill bits. Use them for small-scale jobs.
Plug-chamfer taps are a versatile choice for most tapping applications. With 3-5 chamfered cutting threads, they require moderate torque and are often used for start-to-finish tapping of through holes and closed-end holes. However, they do not start threads as easily as taper chamfers. When using them to tap closed-end holes, be sure to leave sufficient space at the bottom for chips to accumulate.
