Tension and Compression Force Gauges
Check how much force a part can take before it bends, stretches, or breaks. These tension and compression force gauges come with a calibration certificate traceable to NIST that states they’ve passed a test for accuracy. Lightweight, they’re easy to hold in the field but can also be used with a stand (sold separately) for quicker, more controlled and consistent testing. Unlike digital gauges, they don’t require charging or a power source. Activate the peak-hold setting to keep the highest reading on the display.
These gauges include various attachments for you to use depending on what you’re testing for and the part you’re testing—whether it’s a button, spring, or the nozzle on an aerosol can. For compression testing, attach one of the tips and push the gauge against the surface of your part. Cone tips are best for small surfaces while flat tips are best for large surfaces. For tension testing, choose a hook attachment size based on what can securely pull your part without slipping. All measuring attachments thread onto the shaft. To make it easier to measure the force of heavy loads, these gauges also have holes either on the back or the side for mounting handles (not included with all gauges).
Note: These gauges are not recommended for testing that pushes a part past its breaking point.

Manual stands with a lever handle are good for high-volume testing. They’re quick to use but not as precise as stands with a wheel handle. Manual stands with a wheel handle are good for low-volume testing. They give you better control of motion than stands with a lever handle, so they’re more precise.
Motorized stands give you the most control. Use the easy-to-read LCD screen and dial to control settings, including how the far the stand moves your gauge up and down, how fast, and how often. You can also save settings for consistent, repeatable testing.

The display is reversible, meaning you can detach it, flip it, and reattach it so that the shaft is either on the top or bottom of the gauge. Connect the included attachments to the shaft to grip the material being tested. These gauges have a peak-hold setting that retains the highest reading on the display. Upload your measurements to a computer using the included software.

Go/No-Go Tension and Compression Force Gauges
Read tension and compression measurements with a glance—these gauges have three color-coded indicator lights to show you if a part is at your desired force. Red means the force is too high, orange means too low, and green is just right. These gauges come with a calibration certificate traceable to NIST that states they’ve passed a test for accuracy. They have a backlit LED display to easily read force measurements, even in low light. The display is reversible, so it will be readable whether you have the gauge positioned with the shaft on top or bottom. All have a threaded male shaft to connect tips, hooks, and other attachments. Use the included software to upload measurement data—it downloads peak data from the gauge’s memory or captures continuous data. These gauges cannot be sold to California or Oregon due to energy efficiency regulations.
Test stands help keep your measurements uniform. Attach the gauge, and the stand will push or pull it. Test stands with a lever quickly engage and release, so you can test high volumes. However, they are less precise than stands with a wheel. Test stands with a wheel are best for testing low volumes. They are more precise than stands with a lever. Motorized test stands operate with the push of a button.

Large-Capacity Digital Tension Force Gauges with Scale
Measure tension force as well as weight. These gauges come with a calibration certificate traceable to NIST that states they've passed a test for accuracy. All are NEMA 4X rated for protection from dust, water, and mild corrosives. They can be manually reset to zero and have a peak-hold setting that retains the highest reading on the display when activated. Also known as dynamometers.
