About Sound Levels
Measured in decibels (dB), volume ratings indicate how much noise equipment makes. Some common volume levels include a whisper @ 20 dB, a refrigerator @ 40 dB, a conversation @ 60 dB, and a light machine shop @ 90 dB. OSHA recommends hearing protection for exposure to 80 dB and greater.
Light Duty Direct-Drive Wall-Mount Exhaust Fans with Louvers
These light duty fans are designed for use without duct. They come complete with a movable-blade louver. The louvers are gravity operated so they open only when air flows through them, which prevents backdrafts. Direct-drive fans have fewer moving parts than belt-drive fans for less maintenance. Use these fans to draw stagnant and humid air out of a room or area. All have a totally enclosed motor enclosure, which can be used in dirty, dusty, and damp environments.

Direct-Drive Wall-Mount Exhaust Fans with Louvers
These fans come complete with a movable-blade louver. The louvers are gravity operated so they open only when air flows through them, which prevents backdrafts. Direct-drive fans have fewer moving parts than belt-drive fans for less maintenance. Use these fans to draw stagnant and humid air out of a room or area. All have an open dripproof motor enclosure for relatively clean, dry, indoor locations. They also have a wire mesh inlet guard to protect the fan from debris.

Dust-Resistant Direct-Drive Wall-Mount Exhaust Fans
Better suited for dirty, dusty, and damp environments than standard direct-drive fans, these have a totally enclosed motor enclosure. Direct-drive fans have fewer moving parts than belt-drive fans for less maintenance. Use these fans to draw stagnant and humid air out of a room or area.
Collars and louvers are sold separately. Use a collar to connect a wall-mount exhaust fan to a louver.

Direct-Drive Wall-Mount Exhaust Fans
Direct-drive fans have fewer moving parts than belt-drive fans for less maintenance. Use these fans to draw stagnant and humid air out of a room or area.
Fans with an open dripproof motor enclosure are for relatively clean, dry, indoor locations. Use a collar (sold separately) to connect these fans to a louver.

Exterior-Wall-Mount Exhaust Fans
Good when you don't have room to mount an exhaust fan inside your facility, these fans attach to openings in outside walls. Use them to draw stagnant and humid air out of a room or area.
Direct-drive fans have fewer moving parts than belt-drive fans, so they’re easier to maintain.
Fans with an open dripproof motor enclosure should be used in clean, dry, and indoor locations. You can use these fans with or without duct. To use them with duct, you'll need an angle ring (not included).
Note: Airflow depends on the resistance created by louvers, filters, and ductwork in your system. This resistance, known as static pressure (SP), is measured in inches of water.
Grilles (sold separately) have fixed blades.
Louvers (sold separately) are gravity operated. The blades open when air flows and close when it stops, preventing backdrafts.

Direct-Drive Downdraft Roof-Mount Exhaust Fans
Direct-drive fans have fewer moving parts than belt-drive fans for less maintenance. More economical than upblast roof-mount exhaust fans, these draw stagnant and humid air out through your roof and then direct it back toward the roof. All fans have a disconnect switch to turn off the power for servicing.
Note: Airflow depends on the resistance created by ductwork. This resistance, known as static pressure (SP), is measured in inches of water.
