Measured in decibels (dB), volume ratings indicate how much noise equipment makes. Some common volume levels include a whisper @ 20 dB, a refrigerator @ 40 dB, a conversation @ 60 dB, and a light machine shop @ 90 dB. OSHA recommends hearing protection for exposure to 80 dB and greater.
DC Heater and Air Conditioner Duct Booster Fans
Often used in vehicles, these fans operate on DC power. Insert them directly into your ductwork. They give small heaters and air conditioners a boost to circulate air through ductwork. All have a totally enclosed motor enclosure, which can be used in dirty, dusty, and damp environments.

All are belt-drive fans that are quieter and have a longer life span than direct-drive fans because components can be replaced if worn or damaged. They install inline in ductwork for use as an exhaust, supply, or booster fan. Fans rated IP44 have a motor enclosure that's rated for protection in damp environments. Fans rated IP56 have a motor enclosure that’s rated for protection in damp, dusty, and washdown environments. UL and CSA standards apply to the motor.

Exterior-Wall-Mount Exhaust Fans
Good when you don't have room to mount an exhaust fan inside your facility, these fans attach to openings in outside walls. Use them to draw stagnant and humid air out of a room or area.
Direct-drive fans have fewer moving parts than belt-drive fans, so they’re easier to maintain. Belt-drive fans are quieter than direct-drive fans. They also last longer because their components can be replaced if damaged. Fans with a totally enclosed motor enclosure can be used in dirty, dusty, and damp environments. They mount through the wall, so you'll need to cut a hole on the inside of the wall as well.
