    Tapping Drill Bits

Drill and thread holes with the same bit. The tap section has a plug chamfer with 3-5 chamfered threads for through holes and blind holes.
    High-Speed Steel—For Fastener Threads
Cut threads into holes so screws, bolts, and rods fit snugly. Wear and heat resistant, these bits are versatile for use on a range of materials.
Uncoated—The most economical option, uncoated bits perform best when used on low-carbon steel and aluminum. Polished to reduce friction, they're also known as bright finish bits.
Straight Flute—Capture chips so you'll have to clear them as you tap.
Square Shank—Use in a tap holder for drill presses and milling machines.
