    Fully Grooved Dowel Pins
    3D CAD models available

With a tighter fit than standard dowel pins, these resist pulling from movement and vibration, even in imperfect holes. Three grooves pinch shut when installed, creating tension to lock in place. Also known as Type A pins.
For the best fit, drill your hole slightly larger than the nominal diameter shown.

    Tapered Groove

Zinc-Plated Carbon Steel—These pins withstand occasional exposure to moisture. However, since friction from moving parts can wear away the finish, they're not ideal for wet environments. While not nearly as corrosion resistant as stainless steel, they are stronger and won’t deform under stress.
Tapered Groove—Easier to install than pins with parallel grooves but less secure in high-vibration applications.

    Tapered Groove

18-8 Stainless Steel—The choice for wet and outdoor environments. In addition to resisting rust, these pins also withstand mild chemicals such as cleaners and degreasers. They are strong enough to join most components but won't withstand extreme stress and vibration as well as steel.

    Partially Grooved Dowel Pins
    3D CAD models available

The grooved section secures these pins while the smooth portion is free to act as a pivot or hinge. The grooves pinch shut when installed, creating tension to lock in place. They fit tighter than standard dowel pins and resist pulling from movement and vibration, even in imperfect holes.
For the best fit, drill your hole slightly larger than the nominal diameter shown.

    Parallel Groove

The most versatile partially grooved pins, these are used in a range of applications, including as rod end linkages, stop pins, and locators. Also known as type H pins.
Zinc-Plated Carbon Steel—These pins withstand occasional exposure to moisture. However, since friction from moving parts can wear away the finish, they're not ideal for wet environments. While not nearly as corrosion resistant as stainless steel, they are stronger and won’t deform under stress.
Parallel Groove—Fit tighter than pins with tapered grooves to stay in place under severe vibration. However, they require more force to insert.

    Parallel Groove

These pins lock in the middle, leaving two smooth ends free. They're often used to create a T-handle, such as on a valve stem to open and close it by hand. Also known as type E pins.

With a longer smooth end than half-grooved dowel pins, these are often used for thicker pivoting parts, such as levers and hinges. Also known as type C pins.

Partially Grooved Dowel Pins with Notch
    3D CAD models available

Slip a spring into the notch at the end of the pin. Often used in automated machinery such as conveyors and robotic arms, the pin anchors the spring in place to create tension between components. The grooved section pinches shut when installed to lock the pin in place. Grooved pins have a tighter fit than standard dowel pins and resist pulling from movement and vibration.
For the best fit, drill your hole slightly larger than the nominal diameter shown.

    Partially Knurled Dowel Pins
    3D CAD models available

A section of knurls around the entire diameter of these pins make better contact with the hole than partially grooved pins. The knurls resist both pulling and twisting that can displace the pin and damage the hole, while the smooth portion acts as a hinge or pivot.

    Core Pins
    3D CAD models available

Mold plastic around these pins to form small holes, or use them to perforate parts. They have a flat head to fit into a counterbored hole. Pins can be machined to fit your application. They're precision-ground to tight tolerances.
