They have a ratchet-stop thimble with a speeder knob to reduce the time it takes to open and close the micrometer. For repeatable measurements, the thimble stops turning once the spindle reaches your part to prevent overtightening. However, the speeder knob will continue to turn with a clicking sound. Harsh Environment Mitutoyo Electronic Depth Gauges
IP67 rated for protection from dust and temporary water submersion. These gauges have zero-position memory, also known as absolute (ABS) positioning, which retains the measuring position when the gauge is turned off. A zero-set button lets you start measuring at any point. SPC data output allows for connection to a computer or data processor.
USB data cable (sold separately) connects the gauge directly to your PC.
10-pin data cables (sold separately) connect the gauge to a Mitutoyo miniprocessor or multiplexer.
Wireless data transmitter and receiver (sold separately) allow you to transmit measurement data from the gauge to your PC without being tethered by a cable.
Base extensions (sold separately) increase the base width of your depth gauge to measure large diameter holes.

Starrett Top-Reading Dial Depth Gauges

Depth Micrometer Check Gauges
Confirm your depth micrometer is accurate. These gauges check if your micrometer starts measuring at zero. With six highly accurate reference depth points that range from 1″ to 6″, you can check the accuracy of your depth micrometer and adjust if it comes out of calibration over time. Twist the micrometer's spindle until the tip of the rod is touching the surface of the gauge block and check the reading. Once zeroed, your depth micrometer is ready to measure your parts.
