Micro M12 Screw-Together Ethernet Connectors
Unlike traditional RJ45 connectors found in data centers, these connectors stand up to rugged industrial environments since they tightly thread to devices with M12 connections, sealing out contaminants and resisting shaking loose from vibration. Use them to transfer high-speed data between sensors, switches, computers, IO modules, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and other equipment. They can also power devices as they send data, so you don’t need a separate power cord. But, the device must be Power over Ethernet (PoE) compatible. These connectors are often used with EtherNet/IP, Profinet, and EtherCAT systems. Since they’re shielded, they block signal interference from nearby devices, maintaining their speed and data integrity. Poles and keyways on the face adhere to standard coding layouts to reduce the chance you’ll mismatch connections.
When choosing an Ethernet connector, make sure you match or exceed your network’s category industry designation. These connectors are backward compatible—for example, a Category 6 connector will work in a Category 5 network, but it’ll only run at the Category 5 speed.
Receptacles thread into a panel or wall, making them best for permanent installations such as control panels or hardwiring into equipment.
Adapters create a transition point between an M12 and RJ45 connection. Use them in panels or walls—your tough threaded connection on one side and your control panel and computer or PLC on the other.
90° elbow connectors run your cord along the side of equipment, so they fit behind machines and in tight spaces.
Connectors with a screw-on wire connection, also known as field wireable connectors, do not require special tools like crimpers or soldering irons to attach to cables. Connectors with a snap-on wire connection pierce the wire’s insulation, which means you don’t need to strip it.
Connectors with polyurethane or TPE insulation resist chemicals, oil, and sunlight for outdoor use. Because they’re flexible, they’re good for jobs with continuous motion, such as robotics.
IP rated connectors keep out dust and can be used in wet areas when mated or capped. IP65 connectors can be lightly rinsed. IP67 connectors can be submerged temporarily. IP69 connectors withstand high-pressure, high temperature washdowns.
Add caps to protect connectors and maintain their IP ratings when not in use.

Ethernet Cords with M12 and RJ45 Connectors
To send high-speed data in tough, rugged environments, these cords have an M12 connector on one end that threads onto switches, sensors, and other devices prone to vibration. The other end has a traditional RJ45 plug that connects to Ethernet equipment, such as computers, IO modules, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). These cords can also power devices as they send data, so you don’t need a separate power cord. But, the device must be Power over Ethernet (PoE) compatible. They’re often used with EtherNet/IP, Profinet, and EtherCAT systems. With TPE insulation, they stand up to bending in robotics applications. It also means they resist abrasion and won’t pit or crack from chemicals, sunlight, and welding runoff.
Thanks to its threads and IP rating, the M12 end is water and dust tight when mated. Poles and keyways on its face adhere to standard coding layouts, which reduces the chance of mismatching connections.
When choosing an Ethernet cord, make sure you match or exceed your network’s ethernet cable category. These cords are backward compatible—for example, a Category 6 cord will work in a Category 5 network, but it’ll only run at the Category 5 speed.
Use unshielded cords where signal interference is not a concern. Double-shielded cords have layers of braid and foil that block signal interference from nearby devices, maintaining their speed and data integrity.
Cords with a 90° elbow run along the side of equipment, so they fit behind machines and in tight spaces.
Add caps to protect connectors and maintain their IP rating when not in use.

Ethernet Cords with M12 Connectors
The M12 threaded ends on these cords seal out contaminants and resist coming loose from vibration better than the RJ45 ends on traditional Ethernet cords. Use them in tough, rugged environments to send high-speed data between sensors, switches, servers, computers, and PLCs not protected by control panels. These cords can power devices as they send data, as long as devices are Power over Ethernet (PoE) compatible. They are often used within Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and EtherCat systems. Their poles and keyways adhere to standard coding layouts, reducing the chance you’ll mismatch connections.
All cords are backward compatible, so they work in networks that meet the same or lower ethernet cable category. For example, a Category 6 cord will work in a Category 5 network, but it will only run at the Category 5 speed.
With either TPE or polyurethane insulation, all cords stand up to harsh factory conditions, chemicals, and UV rays. All are also highly flexible, so they’re good for jobs with continuous motion, such as robotics. TPE-insulated cords resist abrasion and won’t pit or crack from welding runoff. Oil-resistant polyurethane-insulated cords are free of halogen, so they’re safer than most plastic as they won’t release toxic fumes or corrode metal.
Use unshielded cords where signal interference is not a concern. Double-shielded cords have layers of braid and foil that block signal interference from nearby devices, preventing impact to transmission speeds and data.
90° elbow cords sit flush against equipment, so they fit behind machinery in areas where space is tight.
When mated, all cords are IP67 rated to protect against dust and temporary submersion. IP65-rated cords stand up to washdowns. IP66K-rated cords stand up to high-pressure washdowns.
Add caps to protect cords and maintain their IP ratings when not in use.

Ethernet Cords with M8 Connectors

Unlike the RJ45 ends on traditional Ethernet cords, the threaded M8 ends on these cords keep contaminants out and resist coming loose from vibration. They are often used with sensors, switches, I/O modules, and computers. Braided shielding protects against signal interference. Insulated with polyurethane, these cords bend easily, so they are ideal for applications that require continuous flexibility such as robotics. They also resist oil. When mated, they are IP67 rated for protection from dust and temporary submersion.
D-coded cords are Power over Ethernet (POE) enabled to carry data and power within one cord.

IO Link Controllers and Modules

Create a system of sensors and actuators that you can remotely update, view measurements from, and receive error messages in real time. IO Link systems minimize downtime by locating issues such as cut cables or dirty sensors quickly. They send only digital signals to your PLC, regardless of whether your sensors and actuators send digital or analog signals. Because these systems send digital signals, they’re more reliable and less prone to data error and signal loss than analog signals. It also means you don't have to use expensive shielded cables since they resist EMI.
When retrofitting an existing system, you'll need to make sure your PLC can incorporate IO Link. Check with your PLC manufacturer—most have hardware that allows you to upgrade your PLC to run IO Link.
Controllers communicate between your sensors and actuators and your PLC. They are required. Setting memory automatically stores your settings and restores them once your device is back online. This eliminates needing to program a device again when you replace or fix it. Surface mount controllers let you mount controllers on equipment such as tanks and conveyors. By mounting them on your equipment, you save space in your control cabinet. They use M12 connectors.
Protective caps prevent dust and debris from harming M12 connections when they're not in use. They also help maintain IP ratings by covering unused ports. Stainless steel protective caps have a neoprene gasket, which helps maintain IP69K ratings.
IP rated components block out dust and withstand some water, so they do not require an enclosure. Ports that are unused must be capped to maintain their rating. IP66 rated components withstand washdowns. IP67 rated components can be temporarily submerged in water. IP69K rated components hold up to high-pressure and high-temperature washdowns.
Note: Sockets may have extra holes on their face that are not used.
