How to Identify and Measure Fittings

Pipe size is an industry designation, not the actual size. View information about how to measure threaded and unthreaded pipe and pipe fittings.

Aluminum Quick-Connect Pipe Fittings for Compressed Air

Twist these fittings onto aluminum pipe for quick, sealed connections—no threading, soldering, or welding necessary. Use them to build a compressed air system in half the time it would take to build a copper or steel system. Also known as Unipipe fittings, they’re part of a quick-connect system that’s compatible with pipe from Unipipe, Transair, and Infinity.

Finger tighten the collar on the end of these fittings, then use a wrench for the final quarter turn. The inside of these fittings has a compression ring and O-ring to seal against the pipe. They’re easy to take apart as needed to modify your setup.

Choose fittings with a blue or gray collar for easy identification. Fittings with a blue collar are often used for compressed air systems. Fittings with a gray collar are often used for vacuum systems.

Use these adapters with a connector (sold separately) to change the line's size. The male end of these adapters should match the size of the connector. The compatible fittings connect to this pipe when you finger tighten their collar and then use a wrench for the final quarter turn. A compression ring and O-ring inside the fitting seal it onto this pipe.

Choose blue or gray pipe for easy identification. Blue pipe is often used for compressed air systems. Gray pipe is often used for vacuum systems.

Use a deburring scraper (sold separately) to smooth rough edges left behind after trimming the pipe to size.

Quick-Connect High-Vacuum Fittings for Stainless Steel Tubing

Twist these fittings onto high-vacuum tubing to quickly make sealed, high-vacuum connections without the need for clamping, welding, or tools. To connect, insert your tubing into the fitting and twist the collar on the end of the fitting; an O-ring on the inside of the fitting compresses to form the seal. Also known as quick-disconnects, they're as easy to twist off as they are to twist on. Not for use in pressure applications.

Connectors have quick-connect fittings on both sides. Use them to connect two lengths of tubing: stainless steel to stainless steel, glass to glass, or go from one material to the other.

Adapters have a quick-connect fitting on one side and a quick-clamp fitting on the other. Use them to attach and remove components for one-off uses or to adapt your quick-clamp system to connect to glass tubing. Quick-clamp fittings are also known as KF, QF, and NW fittings; they require a clamp and ring (sold separately) to complete the connection.

Plugs fit inside the end of a quick-connect fitting to block it off when not in use.
