About Cam Latches and Locks

Swing-Handle Keyed Alike Cam Locks
Often installed on server cabinets and electrical panels, these locks have a handle that swings smoothly when you lift it to latch and unlatch the door. The handle lies flat when locked, which means it won’t snag anything passing by. All have a cam that rotates to keep doors closed. Choose these locks if you need several locks that open with the same key.
Locks with a fixed latching distance are best when you know the precise distance you need. Since you won’t have to adjust the cam into position, these are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance. All include multiple cams, so you can change the fixed latching distance.
Locks with an adjustable latching distance handle a wide range of latching distances, so they’re best for tasks when precise distances are unknown. Adjust the position of the cam before you begin to install them.
Stainless steel and plastic locks are more corrosion resistant than zinc locks. They won’t corrode in areas that are constantly exposed to moisture. Plastic locks are also nonconductive and lighter in weight. However, they’re easier to drill into or tamper with than metal locks.
Locks with a stainless steel shutter block rain, snow, and dirt from entering the lock cylinder, which can cause internal damage. These locks also help keep your sealed enclosure's contents safe from water damage because they help maintain an enclosure's IP rating for low-pressure washdowns.
Padlockable locks can be used with a padlock for extra security.

Swing-Handle Combination Cam Locks
Latch and lock doors and cabinets with these swing-handle cam locks, and unlock them with a four-number combination code. They’re commonly used on server cabinets, electrical panels, and other telecommunication enclosures. For easy latching and unlatching, the handle swings smoothly when raised. It lies flat when locked, so it won’t snag anything passing by. Select the turn direction when mounting the cam. Locks come with a straight cam and two nonreversible offset cams to accommodate different latching distances. When installing, program a permanent number combination of your choice. These locks also come with two keys.

Washdown Swing-Handle Resettable Combination Cam Locks
Secure these locks with a three-number combination or a key. You can set a combination and reset it at any time. They’re keyed alike, so they’re useful if you need several locks that all open with the same key. Often used on sealed server cabinets and electrical panels, they have a gasket that keeps low-pressure washdowns and dust from getting through the lock. This helps you maintain an IP65 rating on sealed enclosures. Lift the handle and it swings smoothly to latch and unlatch doors. Also known as quarter-turn locks, they have a cam that rotates 90° as you swing the handle. When locked, the handle lies flat, so it won’t snag anything passing by. It also can’t be raised and turned, adding an additional layer of security.
These locks come with a straight and offset cam. Offset cams are reversible, so they can be mounted at two different latching distances.
