    Pipe and Conduit Taps

Add internal threads to pipe and conduit or components such as manifolds. They have straight flutes that are good for most jobs.

High-Speed Steel—The most versatile taps resist heat and wear to stay sharp. They’re good for most metals and plastic.
Uncoated—The economical choice, these won't last as long as coated taps.
Titanium Nitride (TiN) Coated—Run at higher speeds and last twice as long as uncoated taps.

    Chip-Clearing Pipe and Conduit Taps

With widely spaced flutes, chips fall away from the tap and plenty of lubricant flows to the workpiece. These taps prevent buildup that can ruin threads and keep pipe and conduit from making strong connections. Also known as interrupted-thread taps.

    2-in-1 Pipe and Conduit Taps

One tap threads holes in pipe and conduit from start to finish. Begin with the taper-chamfer end, which gradually engages with the material and requires minimal force to turn the tool. Then flip to the bottoming-chamfer end to thread all the way through the hole.

A range of sizes for adding internal threads to pipe and conduit. These taps can also be used to thread components like manifolds. They have straight flutes that are good for most jobs.
Carbon Steel—The economical choice for occasional hand tapping. These work on most metals and plastic but will dull more quickly than other taps.

    Helical Insert Taps

Match the size of helical inserts so they fit tightly when installed in the hole.
High-Speed Steel—These taps resist heat and wear to stay sharp.
Plug Chamfer—The tapered section is shorter than a taper chamfer and longer than bottoming chamfer. As a result, these are easier to turn than bottoming taps but require more force than taper taps.
