These batteries hold more power than rechargeable batteries but must be replaced more frequently. When choosing a battery, use the capacity, measured in milliampere-hours, to compare among similar sizes. The higher the mA-hr. rating, the longer the battery should last.
Use alkaline and zinc carbon batteries in low-drain devices such as clocks and radios.
Lantern Batteries
Power portable lighting such as lanterns, flashlights, and barricade lights. When choosing a battery, use the capacity, measured in milliampere-hours, to compare among similar sizes. The higher the mA-hr. rating, the longer the battery should last.

Long-Life Lantern Batteries
Change batteries less often—these last at least twice as long as standard lantern batteries. Use them to power lanterns, barricade lights, and telecommunications devices. Because they are zinc air batteries, they require oxygen to create power. Activate by removing the tape from the holes in the battery case, allowing oxygen to flow inside. They maintain voltage at a constant level, even during power peaks and pulses that can temporarily drain oxygen. Mount in any position with access to air.

Battery Packs
These battery cells are wired together for use in portable devices such as lighting and telecommunication.
Nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries can be recharged before they are drained completely without affecting battery life.
Sealed Large-Cell Batteries for Continuous Use
Provide backup power for emergency lights, alarm systems, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for computers, and other systems that require power over a long period of time. These dry-cell batteries have an absorbed glass mat (AGM) that soaks up the electrolyte, so they’re usable in any position except upside down. They can be recharged hundreds of times.
Warning: Batteries should always be charged and discharged in a ventilated area.

Large-Cell Batteries for Starting and Continuous Use
These dual-purpose batteries provide a surge of power to start automobiles and other vehicles, and they deliver power over a long period of time. They're deep cycle, so they can handle many charge/deep discharge cycles. Because they are wet-cell batteries and contain electrolyte in an unsealed container, they must be mounted upright. They may occasionally need to be filled with distilled water.
Reserve capacity is the number of minutes that a new, fully charged battery can continuously discharge at 25 amps at 80° F. Marine cranking amps is the maximum amps that a new, fully charged battery can continuously deliver for 30 seconds at 32° F.
Warning: Batteries should always be charged and discharged in a ventilated area.
Fast-Charging Large-Cell Batteries
An alternative to wet- and dry-cell large-cell batteries, these lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries charge more quickly and can be recharged thousands of times. With excellent chemical stability, they reduce the risk of thermal runaway if exposed to overheating or short circuiting. Use them for uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and emergency lights.
Note: These batteries must be used with LiFePO4-compatible chargers.
Chargers (sold separately) automatically switch from fast charging to maintaining the charge level, so they won’t overcharge and damage the battery.

Bluetooth Large-Cell Batteries
Check real-time battery status from a mobile app to minimize downtime and keep your operation running smoothly. These batteries send notifications for charge levels as well as critical current, capacity, and voltage usage via Bluetooth. They are lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, so they charge more quickly, are half the weight, and have a longer life than wet- and dry-cell large-cell batteries—they can be charged thousands of times. For constant and reliable power, they protect from overcurrent, overvoltage, high temperatures, and short circuits. Batteries must be used with LiFePO4-compatible chargers.
