Also known as metal clad (MC) cable, this cable has metal armor that acts as conduit to protect the building wires. It's often used along the exterior of walls to carry power to outlet boxes. It has a ground wire that is not counted in the number of wires.
Hazardous location environmental ratings indicate whether manufacturers have included safety features in products to facilitate their safe use in a hazardous environment. Before selecting a product for a hazardous location, ensure it is rated for your environment.
Cable with THHN wire stands up to condensation and moisture in basements and other damp environments.
Cable with XHHW-2 wire has a PVC outer jacket over the aluminum armor. You can use it in wet environments where liquid might drip and splash on it. It can also be used for direct burial without a conduit.

Armored Building Cable with Uninsulated Ground Wire
- Use For: Buildings
- Flexible
- Temperature Range: 15° to 190° F
- Insulation:
Outer: Aluminum Armor
Inner: PVC Plastic
Also known as AC cable, this cable has an uninsulated aluminum ground wire that's in constant contact with the aluminum armor, so it can be used for bonding and grounding. The uninsulated ground wire is not counted in the number of wires. The armor acts as conduit to protect the THHN building wires. It's often used along the exterior of walls to carry power to outlet boxes. All are flame rated VW-1 to meet requirements for preventing the spread of flames based on a timed test with vertically suspended material.

Armored Fire Alarm Cable
- Use For: Buildings
- Flexible
- Temperature Range: -10° to 190° F
- Insulation:
Outer: Aluminum Armor
Inner: Nylon Plastic, PVC Plastic
Prevent damage to wires for fire alarm systems, smoke detectors, and other critical circuits with this armored cable. Also known as metal clad (MC) cable, the metal armor acts as a conduit to protect the wires inside. The PVC inner insulation resists flames. Its nylon jacket is low smoke, so it can be used without conduit in duct work, under raised floors, and above a drop ceiling. This cable has a ground wire that is not counted in the number of wires.

Stainless Steel Armored Micro M12 Cords
Step on or roll carts and platform trucks over these M12 cords without crushing them. A protective layer of stainless steel makes these the most crush- and abrasion-resistant M12 cords we offer. It also prevents damage from pests that chew through cords. The stainless steel and PVC outer layer keep moisture from corroding the cord, so they can be used outdoors and near chemicals as well. Despite the stainless steel covering, these cords are still flexible enough to route around equipment. Threaded ends create a tight connection that seals out contaminants and won’t shake loose from the vibration of automated machines.
These cords have a standardized code layout to reduce the chances of accidentally mis-mating them. All are A-coded to send signal and power to AC and DC devices. A-coded cords are often used with sensors, actuators, and motors in automated systems. They also connect devices to IO Link controllers and within fieldbus systems, such as Profibus and DeviceNet.
When mated or capped, these cords meet IP ratings. IP67 cords withstand temporary submersion. IP69 cords are protected from dust and high-pressure, high-temperature washdowns.
Add caps to protect connectors and maintain their IP ratings when not in use.
Note: Sockets may have extra holes on the face that are not used.

Armored Door Cords
Swings In | Swings Out |
- Cord Insulation Material: Stainless Steel Armor
- Flexible
Transfer power between your door frame and door to power electric locks or exit devices. These cords mount on the surface of the door, rather than inside the frame, so they’re easier to install than other power transfer devices such as hinges and mortises. A stainless steel armor protects the wire leads and prevents tampering with your lock. Wire leads are included, so they come ready to hardwire into your system. Cords meet UL 10C to prevent the spread of fire through doors and door frames.
Choose a cord based on your door's opening direction. For doors that open outward, the cord is longer to accommodate the extra distance the door moves as it swings away from the frame.
Crush-Resistant USB Cords
The insulation serves as a tough armor that protects these cords in high-traffic areas. These cords have braided and foil shielding, which reduces signal interference from nearby equipment and devices. They’re backward compatible, so they work with cords and connectors that meet the same or lower USB standard.
Cords with PVC armor are more lightweight than cords with stainless steel armor.
Stainless steel armor is more crush resistant than PVC armor.
