Chemical-Resistant Shop Aprons
Made of flexible PVC, these aprons hold up against acids and alkalies such as sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide. They are water resistant and have a tie in the back.
Bib aprons with reinforced straps and ties can be adjusted for a comfortable fit. Their neck strap and waist ties stand up to repeated tying and untying without breaking. Those made from PVC/nylon have a nylon backing to add durability and protect against punctures and abrasion.
Bib aprons with a reinforced stomach have an extra layer of PVC sewn over the stomach for added protection.
Sleeved aprons provide better coverage than bib aprons, so they’re often used in applications with higher risk of splashes, such as food processing and transferring liquids. They have elastic cuffs, which prevent liquids from splashing into sleeves.

Liquid-Resistant Shop Aprons
Made of SBR-coated polyester, these aprons repel water and other nonhazardous liquids. They have a tie in the back.
Oil-Resistant Shop Aprons
Rubber coatings keep oil, water, and other liquids from penetrating these aprons. They tie in the back.
Acrylic/Buna-N blend won’t crack in cold conditions. These aprons provide good abrasion resistance and have a soft polyester/cotton backing.
Buna-N coated cotton/polyester is durable, yet more flexible than Buna-N coated polyester. These aprons also withstand solvents.
Buna-N coated polyester is thicker than Buna-N coated cotton/polyester for added durability. In addition to resisting oil, these aprons withstand some solvents.
PVC-coated polyester withstands some exposure to diluted acids in addition to oil but is not recommended for use with chemicals. Aprons with a reinforced stomach have an extra layer of fabric over the stomach for added protection.
Neoprene-coated nylon aprons also resist fats, grease, and some solvents. With long sleeves, these aprons provide more coverage than other aprons so they're often used in transferring liquids and food processing. They have elastic cuffs to keep splashes out.

Metal- and X-Ray-Detectable Shop Aprons
Keep workers clean and protected from spills and splashes on food processing lines while reducing the risk of contaminating the food. These aprons contain metal and chemical additives that will set off metal detectors and show up on X-ray machines if they—or any piece of them—fall into your line. They’re also bright blue, making them easy to spot. Use these aprons to help you comply with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) programs for food safety.
Made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), these aprons repel water, chemicals, and oil, including vegetable oil and animal fats. They also resist tears and abrasion, and will remain flexible in low temperatures. They can be machine washed and reused multiple times.
Sleeved aprons provide better coverage than bib aprons, so they’re often used in applications with higher risk of splashes.
Liquid-Resistant Shop and Lab Coats
Made of 99% polyester and 1% carbon fiber, these coats repel liquids. These knee-length coats are also known as barrier coats. They have knit cuffs to keep liquid from splashing into sleeves.
When measuring chest size, measure around the fullest part of your chest. Take all measurements over clothing you expect to wear under the coat.
Disposable Aprons
Protect the front of your body from dirt, grime, and other materials. These aprons tie in the back.
Polyolefin provides excellent resistance against acids and chemical splashes. It is abrasion resistant and holds up to occasional contact with nonhazardous liquids, such as water and paint spray.
Polyethylene is often used in food preparation. It holds up to occasional contact with nonhazardous liquids. Some polyethylene aprons are metal detectable—they have a metal additive that sets off metal detectors if a piece of the apron falls into your line. They’re also blue, so it’s easy to find and remove the piece. They help you comply with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) programs to keep contaminated food from leaving your facility.
Tyvek polyethylene provides better tear and abrasion resistance than polypropylene, polyolefin, and polyethylene. It holds up to occasional contact with nonhazardous liquids, such as water and paint spray. It is made of heat- and pressure-bonded fibers for a material that’s soft yet strong.
Comformax/polyester blend is a specially treated wood pulp and fabric blend material that repels liquids, including blood and other bodily fluids. It has good tear resistance and offers some breathability.

Disposable Clean Room Aprons
Designed to meet clean room standards, these aprons prevent pollutants from contaminating the space. Aprons resist spills and splashes from acids, alkalies, and other chemicals. They have sleeves with elastic cuffs to help keep liquids from splashing in. They are disposable.
Cold-Protection Aprons
Also known as cryogenic aprons, these aprons protect against extremely cold materials as low as -320° F, such as liquid nitrogen and dry ice. They have a waterproof shell that repels splashes. Adjust the fit with straps at the neck and waist—each has a buckle for quick removal. The heavier the apron, the more durable it is, but lighter aprons are more comfortable to wear for long periods.
Cordura nylon aprons resist abrasion.
Aramid/cotton/nylon blend aprons are flame resistant, so they’ll protect you if liquid oxygen or other cryogenic materials catch fire. Static-control strips line the inside of the apron to reduce the risk of sparks from static electricity buildup.

Cold-Protection Clothing Kits
Shield your torso, face, and hands from extremely cold materials, such as liquid nitrogen and dry ice. These kits include a cryogenic apron and gloves that withstand temperatures as cold as -320° F. Made of Cordura nylon fabric, the aprons are waterproof and resist cuts. They have adjustable neck and waist straps with buckles for quick removal. A breathable liner in the nylon gloves wicks moisture. Their open cuff design lets you easily slip them on and off. These kits also have a polycarbonate face shield that blocks splashes and won’t easily crack if dropped. Unlike standard face shields, these shields won’t fog up when cold liquids splash them. The face shield has a ratchet adjustment in the back and a pinlock adjustment in the front, so you can get a comfortable fit.
