Infrared Thermometers
Measure the temperature of dangerous, hard-to-reach, and moving surfaces without risking electrical shock or contamination. These thermometers are often used to locate and diagnose problems in electrical, heating, and ventilation systems. Maximum working distance is the distance a one foot target can be reliably measured.
Thermometers with adjustable emissivity can be calibrated for more accurate readings of shiny surfaces than thermometers with fixed emissivity.
Warning: These infrared thermometers are not intended for medical use. Use Non-Contact Forehead Thermometers for medical use.

Thermal Imaging Cameras
Detect hot spots, leaks, moisture problems, and construction defects invisible to the eye. These imaging guns translate thermal energy into a color image that indicates hotter areas as brighter and cooler areas as darker, so it’s easy to identify and diagnose problems on instrument panels, HVAC systems, and other equipment. To review footage at a later date, use them to take photos and videos. The lower a camera’s thermal sensitivity, the more precise heat differences it will detect for more detailed images. All are CE marked as meeting European standards for health, safety, and environmental protection. Some include a calibration certificate traceable to NIST stating they’ve passed a test for accuracy.

Infrared Thermometer Transmitters
Monitor the temperature of molten steel, furnaces, glass, and other hazardous surfaces without touching them. A built-in transmitter reads surface energy levels and converts them to analog and digital output values that can be read by a receiving device, such as a PLC. Because of this, you can use these transmitters for measuring and switching applications.
Adjust set points, emissivity range, and other settings on-site using the buttons on the transmitters. Connect transmitters to an IO-link controller (not included) to change settings remotely and alert you to errors on PLCs and human-machine interfaces.
Plug these transmitters into shielded M12 sockets since they're extremely prone to signal interference. These transmitters connect using two wires to send a 4-20mA current output and four wires to use the switching output and IO-link. Connect to pin 5 to utilize the test function to verify that the transmitter's signal processing is working correctly. To view transmitter wiring diagrams, select a part number and click Product Detail.
Their lenses resist scratches, which could cause transmitters to lose focus. All are IP-rated for protection against dust and low-pressure jets of water. Made of 303 stainless steel, these transmitters resist corrosion.
Transmitters can be used on all surfaces. For best results when measuring at an angle or working on round or uneven surfaces, use transmitters with laser sight.
Transmitters with a wavelength range of 0.78–1.06 microns are best for use with glass. Use transmitters with a wavelength range of 1–1.7 microns on metal, ceramics, and graphite. Transmitters with a wavelength range of 8–14 microns are useful for plastic, fabrics, food products, and other metal-free surfaces.
Add accessories to protect your infrared thermometer transmitter in hot or dirty environments. Air purges flush out dust, moisture, and other contaminants on transmitter lenses that can interfere with infrared radiation focus and cause inaccurate readings. Cooling jackets connect to a compressed air or water line to keep temperature transmitters from overheating. Protective covers prevent dirt buildup and excessive exposure to light, which can cause transmitters to lose focus. Insulating tubes prevent overheating by protecting thermometers against heat from mounting brackets or other surfaces.

Hazardous Location Infrared Thermometers
These thermometers are rated for environments where hazardous material is present. They measure the temperature of surfaces without making contact and are often used to locate and diagnose problems in electrical, heating, and ventilation systems. Maximum working distance is the distance a one foot target can be reliably measured.
Thermometers with adjustable emissivity can be calibrated for more accurate readings of shiny surfaces than thermometers with fixed emissivity.
Hazardous location environmental ratings indicate whether manufacturers have included safety features in products to facilitate their safe use in a hazardous environment. Before selecting a product for a hazardous location, ensure it is rated for your environment. See About Hazardous Location Environmental Ratings.

Accessories for Infrared Thermometer Transmitters
Use these accessories to protect your infrared thermometer transmitter and keep it working properly in hot or dirty environments.
Air purges flush out dust, moisture, and other contaminants on transmitter lenses that can interfere with infrared radiation focus and cause inaccurate readings. Connect them to a compressed air line to use.
Cooling jackets connect to a compressed air or water line to keep temperature transmitters from overheating. They’re recommended for use if operating in environments over 149° F.
Protective covers prevent dirt buildup and excessive exposure to light, which can cause transmitters to lose focus.
Insulating tubes prevent overheating by protecting thermometers against heat from mounting brackets or other surfaces.

Non-Contact Temperature Screeners
Quickly take people’s temperatures as they enter your facility to screen out anyone with a high reading. These screeners have a thermal camera that uses infrared light to measure forehead temperature in two seconds at a distance of one to two feet. They’re accurate within 0.9° F and 0.5° C, and work even if people are wearing masks, hats, and glasses. If their temperature is normal, there’s an audible notification. Connect them to your network using Wi-Fi or their Ethernet port in order to create a library of photos, retain data for reporting, and customize the screeners to display directions and your company name and logo. For basic temperature scanning only, there’s no need to connect them to your network—simply plug their power cord into a wall outlet. If you want to keep people from entering until they pass the temperature check, wire these screeners to doors and gates. CE marked, they meet European safety, health, and environmental protection requirements.
Mount these screeners to a wall, or add a floor stand.
Warning: These screeners are not intended for medical use.

Non-Contact Forehead Thermometers
These thermometers take touch-free readings in a single second with an infrared sensor. Unlike traditional thermometers, they don’t need to be disinfected between uses, so you can quickly take temperatures from multiple people without the risk of spreading illness. The digital LCD display is easy to read even in dim lighting. These thermometers glow green, orange, or red to indicate normal, elevated, or high body temperatures.
All are registered with the FDA for use as a medical device. They also meet ISO 13485 standards for medical device design and manufacturing.
These thermometers cannot be sold to Canada due to import regulations.

Motion-Sensing Modules for Development Boards
By detecting body heat, these modules sense when people are moving. Connect them to your development board to integrate them into alarm systems, automated lighting, and other applications.
Modules with a fixed infrared motion and thermal sensor can detect if a person is moving or even just present within the sensing distance. That means you could use them to automate lighting in an office where workers are sitting still. To connect them to your device, solder on wires or headers. For a solderless connection, use a Qwiic cord.
