About Wire and Cable

GXL, TXL, and SXL

Originally designed to meet the quality standards of the auto industry, this wire withstands high temperatures, flames, and abrasion. Unlike other low-voltage wires, this wire meets strict SAE performance requirements. You'll often hear it referred to as primary wire in trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other vehicles.

For wiring exposed to weather and wear and tear, choose a wire with polyethylene insulation. For these applications, GXL wire is the standard choice, as it balances flexibility and abrasion-resistance.

Keep spools of vehicle wire in multiple colors on hand. They meet SAE J1128 for low-voltage wiring in trucks, boats, trailers, and other vehicles.

TXL and GXL wire have cross-linked polyethylene insulation that withstands higher temperatures and has more abrasion resistance than PVC insulation. GXL wire has thick walls, making it suitable for engine compartments.
